I had that done chemically a few years ago. Best decision I made in regard to the issue. Yeah, it hurt for a few days, never as bad as the ingrown problem, and it has never come back.

I am feeling better now but next time the little bugger bothers me I'll be sure to talk about that to a podiatrist. Thanks for the advice.

No, enlighten me, now that you're making an issue of a throwaway post.
    What is a Klick ?
If it's a kilometre then obviously it's metric
But surely Americans deal in miles and not kilometres ?
So does klick become dual purpose slang for kilometre and mile alike ?
    Actually, I don't really care

Yes, a Klick is a Kilometre, but I really thought you were kidding. No need to get this way.

Dealing with a family member with NPD is like dealing with an adult toddler, and don't even get me started on the enablers. If I believed in Hell, there'd be a special place there for people who see someone is toxic and try to drag someone else who has disengaged back into the quagmire. I got out for a reason, y'all. If you were smart, you would, too. Sheesh.

I have a narcissistic sister; rather than say someone has a "personality disorder," I prefer to just call them "horrible."

In this case, I always specify diagnosed NPD, because "Narcissist" is a word that gets tossed around a lot and can mean anything from, "I think this person is a little self-absorbed," to full blown N-rage, danger to others. People who haven't dealt with the latter really don't get it. Sorry to hear you've got one in your family, too. It's exhausting.

Yeah, exhausting doesn't even come close. Once my mom passes away--which I hope will be at least ten years from now (she's my best friend; I don't how I will handle it)--I will be in charge of dissolving the family trust. When it's all said and done, I will hand her a check, and never, ever see her again.

There was a branch in the middle of my path so picked it up and threw it away but because of its odd shape, it turned and hit me, broke skin, and put dirt on my clothes!!! How annoying!!

I get that totally. In my case, my mother is the surviving N. Because she and my father handled their finances so poorly, and he was in ill health for over a decade, I agreed to reverse mortgage their home for them so they'd have money for Dad's medical bills. The things that she pulled while he was dying were unconscionable. I have nothing to do with her personally, only what has to be handled through the contract for the house. When the terms of the contract expire, I'm completely done. But as I'm sure you know, Ns are good at recruiting enablers, so it's the rest of the family who can't stay out of it despite acknowledging they know she lies through her teeth and loves to play victim.

At this rate, I imagine I'm going to have every last one of them blocked on my phone and social media just to keep my peace of mind. It's a shame, because I like a lot of them otherwise, but that's my inviolable line in the sand that I have been crystal clear about for almost three years now. Don't try to get me to start talking to her again. If they're so worried about her, then they're welcome to deal with her. I just want to be left out of it.

Maybe you should tell them before you go so far as to block them. They might not be aware of how you feel.

I'm sorry. Feel free to call me one, then we are even :D

Frustrating thing today (apart from it being the 2nd day at work after a much too short vacation): typos
Last year I had an inflammation of the nerve that controls the sense of equilibrium and was on sick leave for 6 weeks. I had to re-learn sitting upright and walking and still don't dare to ride a bicycle. The nerve is permanently damaged but to a certain extent the brain is able to correct the faulty signals.
It's incredible in how many things this particular nerve is involved - it controls everything where you need to know the position of any of your body parts. Unfortunately, that includes hitting the right key while typing. I'm proof-reading every post I make at least twice and still, the instant I hit 'submit' I find a typo I overlooked. I edit, find another typo and so on. There are posts I edit 10 times. It's such a nuissance!

Getting up at 6am so that you can work for two hours before the kids get up and monopolise the whole of the observable universe, but going back to bed at 7am after two mugs of coffee and no work done because of windows updates.

I hate Windows for that. There's always an update!! Can't they give it a rest for a week or two?

Or maybe regroup their updates in packages, so we wouldn't have to run them so often!!!

That must be really annoying. Do the doctors know what caused the inflammation in the first place?

They are very aware. The first time it gets brought up, they are told, "That topic is not on the table for discussion. Please don't bring it up again." I feel like if someone is jackass enough to keep pushing when told something that directly, they get what they deserve.

Nerve damage is really tough to deal with. I have it in my right leg. I don't know if it's this way for you, but are there some days where things seem easier, and then some days where it's just all, "Nope, nothing is going to be easy today"? You must catch those typos really quickly. They're not obvious.

So do I. Ironically I attempt to reach him by text since he is always staring at his phone (even takes it to the bathroom), but that seems to do no good.
