I have mixed feelings about it.
Thor 3 was ok but not balanced, on the one hand jou have Thor joking around and on the other a genocide in Asgard.

But I hope that Lady Sif returns

I agree and for me it's one of the worst Marvel movies (which still is better than most DC movies :D ).

If they want to make a comedy then do so but pick a character who is already known for his humor.. Peter Parker, snarky Tony Stark etc. Thor was not much of a joking guy so the entire tone of Thor 3 rubbed me wrong.

But it's apparently decided and Thor will probably remain the weakest character series in the MCU in my opinion.

Ragnarok was one of my favourite MCU movies, so I'm 100% on board.

I didn't see MiB International but based on the other stuff Chris Hemsworth has done lately (yes, including Ghostbusters 2016) he's displayed so much talent for comedy that it would be a waste not to keep using it, even if it makes Thor the butt of the joke. I would understand why longtime Thor fans wouldn't like that, though. But I think the guy is actually funnier than Chris Pratt. Maybe it's the accent. I dunno.

Thor 4 is actually happening? Eh, I say leave him with the Guardians of the Galaxy and give Valkyrie her own movie.

I hope the next Black Panther movie comes out first. Waititi did such a great job with Black Panther and Thor has been the weakest in the Marvel Universe that I would prefer to see the Black Panther movie first.

Waititi didn't direct BP. He directed Ragnarok. Ryan Coogler directed BP.

I thought he did both for some reason. Never mind.

I'll pay money to see another Thor movie only if Waititi directs it, and as another comedy.

He really started flexing his quippery in Ultron, and while that was probably as much a function of Whedon's writing in general than a specific choice for the character, it did kinda lay the groundwork for Ragnarok's tone.

Myself, I love The Dark World almost as much as Ragnarok, but while I can understand being frustrated by the character's comedic turn, I think it's fair to assume that without said evolution, we wouldn't be getting a Thor 4 at all, as Hemsworth's contract was fulfilled with Endgame.

    Agreed.

Well, he's that now. His being so removed from typical human personality in Thor and The Avengers made him stand out to me--he was still the outsider/"Thunder God" who was a world (of personality) all his own as seen in the early comics, but bumping him into Dumb Fat Drunk Jokester realm is such a hard turn that did not happen naturally, so it stands out, and not in a good way. As you touch on, he's Thor, not Parker or Stark.

I'll take Ragnarok over crap like The Dark World or the mediocrity of the first Thor movie any day.

I enjoyed Ragnarok enough I can have another go. And I’m intrigued where they left off with Thor at the end of Endgame that I’m curious what’s next for the character.

i think the groundwork for comedic Thor was from that first Thor living with Darryl short.

I remember watching Ragnarok and thinking they used THAT version of Thor.
