    The Empath?
    1. LAL: No, it will not, but it may save Gem's planet. Of all the planets of Minara, we have the power to transport the inhabitants of only one to safety.
    2. SPOCK: The sand-bats of Manark Four appear to be inanimate rock crystals, Doctor, until they attack.
    3. MCCOY: She's a mute, Jim. No vocal cords, not even vestigals.

    THE MARK OF GIDEON?

Diplomatic language was quite annoying, Gideons seem to be immortal, they wanted Odona sick so they could die, they want to be able to die (metamorphosis from immortal to mortal).

I think the people need an universal translator to unscramble your clue to get out of our cloud of confusion. :rommie:

Okay, I'll take you out of your misery: Metamorphosis?
    1. Commissioner Hedford was to negotiate a peace treaty between two warring parties.
    2. Spock electrically scrambled the Companion, then it attacked the guys.
    3. Spock adapted the shuttle's universal translator to speak to the Companion.
    4. It loved Cochrane but couldn't show it.
    5. Commissioner Nancy had Sakuro's disease which is extremely rare. The chances of anyone contracting it are literally billions to one. She essentially dies of it, only being "saved" at the moment of death by merging with the Companion.
    6. Tough clue.

"IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?"?

The Medusans may be so beautiful they drive people insane, as suggested by Miranda.
