Me three. I think I only got one clue right, and the reason I choose Scotty was the "armful" sub-clue which reminded me of Scotty with an armful of tribbles. Gee wiz.

    1st Clue: I'm a survivalist.

It was a hard one, guys; sorry if it was frustrating. :( I just rewatched POF the other day and was reminded how silly it was that Scotty was in it for two scenes, and only one with dialogue. I'm glad he was in it, though - any Scotty-less episode automatically gets a demerit from me. Anyway I thought sure Henoch would get it when I mentioned that the subject character repaired to his favorite room - or was it two? :D

I got huge kicks out of your guesses and, as usual, learned a ton. :techman:

I'm not falling for the obvious guess again (Losira). Someone else can say it if they want :)

But, I will say "Momma Horta". She has a life span of 50,000 years.

Sorry, both Lazarii and one Horta are wrong. Two good picks, though. I forgot how survival was such a binary choice in our mostly two dimensional characters.

2nd Clue: Destroy. I may even go out of my way a little.

Hmmm, the obvious choice is still working, but now I can't say it.

So, I'll say the Doomsday Machine.

    1. Certainly survived a long time
    2. Definitely destroys and considering it came from another galaxy, it went out of its way. Unfortunately for me it was by a lot, not a little, but it could be just a figure of speech.

    Definitely not a doomsday device.

3rd Clue: I work best in the dark.

I have a good guess coming, but I want to sleep on it because my brain also works better in the dark. But, thank you for allowing me to sleep by eliminating the obvious choice. :)

    Good morning team.

4th Clue: I'm a breakout from the past.

My nighttime pondering gave me two guesses, but they were both "destroyed" by the morning clue.

I'm forced to go with a daytime guess of Ruk.

    1. I'm a survivalist
Yes. He survived for a very long time.
    2. Destroy. I may even go out of my way a little.
Korby, uses the word "destroy" to describe Roc killing the guard. The word is used several other times in the episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of".
    3. I work best in the dark
    The caverns are dark.
    4. I'm a breakout from the past
Within the episode, he has new found fame, now that he is rediscovered after millennia. Outside the episode Ted Cassidy was the voice of Balok, hence voice to screen is a breakout too.

That was not the equation! Great guess, though. New Clue:

    1st Clue: I'm a survivalist.
2nd Clue: Destroy. I may even go out of my way a little.
3rd Clue: I work best in the dark.

4th Clue: I'm a breakout from the past.
    5th Clue: What? I'm a murderer, too? I didn't think about that.

M-5 mostly because he went out of his way to destroy an ore freighter.

    1st Clue: I'm a survivalist.
Yep you are good at protecting yourself.
2nd Clue: Destroy. I may even go out of my way a little.
You went after that ore freighter like a cat going after a mouse.
3rd Clue: I work best in the dark.
Hey, did you shut off my lights? OK, I can go somewhere else.
4th Clue: I'm a breakout from the past.
    You are M5, not M1, M2, M3 or M4.
    5th Clue: What? I'm a murderer, too? I didn't think about that.
Well, think about it now, cause you killed a lot of people.

    Yes, it is M-5. You're up, @Steven P Bastien.
    1st Clue: I'm a survivalist.
Daystrom must have unwillingly programmed M-5 with the prime directive to survive. M-5 says its survival is needed.
2nd Clue: Destroy. I may even go out of my way a little.
MCCOY: Your brilliant young computer just destroyed an ore freighter. In fact it went out of its way to destroy an ore freighter!
3rd Clue: I work best in the dark.
In order to take on more and more operations, M-5 started to shut down decks including lights that were unused.
4th Clue: I'm a breakout from the past.
DAYSTROM: Can't you understand? The multitronic unit is a revolution in computer science. I designed the duotronic elements used in your ship right now, and I know they are as archaic as dinosaurs compared to the M-5. A whole new approach.
    5th Clue: What? I'm a murderer, too? I didn't think about that.
Kirk throws "Why's" at M-5 painting it into a logic trap until it pulls the plug on itself. Kirk's such an old hand at this technique that poor M-5 didn't stand a chance.

Good guess given how vague the first clue is, but I believe that Sarek had a change of blood, not heart.

So, let's narrow it down from "all the human race", although the next clue also seems to apply to the entire human race.

    Clue #2

Here I am, and there you are.

    1. Kidnapping for procreation becomes true affection for Kirk.
    2. Reference to the phaser scene on the bridge.

Getting warmer, in a way. Clues are still vague. I'll add one more that applies to all humans, but still might direct you to the correct character.

    Clue #3

Some nights I'm more upset than others.
