Star Trek: Picard teaser trailer

Apologies if I've missed this being discussed elsewhere but do we have an indication yet as to when STP is likely to air?
Also, based on what happened with Disco, does anyone have an idea when we might get to see a [proper trailer?

Nothing official other than Fall. So before Xmas unless something happens to require a change.

I am guessing there will be a longer teaser at SDCC next month. Disco revealed the ship there before it aired later that fall. Not sure it will be a proper trailer that hints at the actual story. There will still be roughly 6 months between SDCC and the premiere.

 

Sdcc schedules should be out in three weeks, a fortnight before the actual event

I hope this is wrong, but rumors that some of the test screenings for Star Trek: Picard are not going well. Just a google search of "Star Trek Picard test screenings" turned that up.

I'm still planning on checking it out, but I am hoping this one will work.

 

The first page of my Google search results for those terms are all stories linking to the same doomcock video or Nerdrotic (seriously, the last result at the bottom of the page is something called "antitrekker"), so I don't think they should be taken too seriously. These seem to be the just the usual suspects who claimed Discovery was already cancelled before it even aired.

 

Yay, more negative rumors from some guy I’ve never heard of, from a website I’ve never heard of. Perhaps I should post on my website that ‘test screenings’ aren’t going well so people will click on my site. Genius!!!

 

Two words for you here: citation needed.

 

"The rumor comes from Gary Buechler aka Nerdrotic. Buechler notes a Star Trek insider contacted him and told him, “Kurtzman has been fired. He is refusing to give up the title but there are 3 producers who have taken over as showrunners.”

Um, okay. "refusing to give up the title." Apparently, this Star Trek "insider" hasn't the faintest clue how contracts work in Hollywood, so, yeah.....not putting any stock in this "tip."

 

Again, this very recent quote from Kurtzman is all I need to see to believe that the "FIRED" rumor is BS...

..."Star Trek: Discovery is now just the first of many Trek projects in the works for CBS and CBS All Access — as the header image of this news update illustrates! — but it also served to (hopefully) stimulate new growth as the franchise continues to expand — and in an interesting set of remarks, Kurtzman notes that this seems to be working… and that he’s got potential plans to keep things growing for the next “five or ten years.”

KURTZMAN: I went to CBS and I said, “I think you have a universe here that is very under-utilized, and a fan base that I think is hungry for a lot more.” And I walked them through the plan of what I saw for the next five to ten years of ‘Trek.’

Part of it was, kind of, premised on the idea that it was going to take time. What I said was, “Don’t expect us to put the first thing out, and suddenly, you know, you’re have 100 million new fans. It’s never reached younger than that; it’s never tried to, and to me that’s a hugely missed opportunity, especially because what you’re really trying to do is influence hearts and minds with really positive messages — messages about who we can be as a species and as people and what our future is. So why not start young, you know? And not for a cynical reason. Not because you know, hey, let some more toys, but because if you really want ‘Star Trek’ to reach people, then you’ve got to start young.

And this is where I guess the ‘Star Wars’ influence on me really mattered, because as a kid at four years old, I could imagine myself starting up with a twin suns of Tattooine and wondering what my life was. ‘Trek’ didn’t give me that same thing — it gave me Wesley Crusher, it gave me different characters, but again, those are older characters.

But we are definitely seeing just metric proof that the fan base is growing, and it’s growing younger — and yet, we’re keeping our current fans, and that’s great."...
