Not hard to guess that it will be timed up to precede the premier of S3. It's as much a promotional strategy as anything.

It's 50/50. Either November/December to take advantage of Christmas sales, or a month or so prior to season 3's premiere to promote the new season. But as of yet, nothing official has been announced. Amazon doesn't even have a placeholder up for pre-ordering it yet, which is actually odd for them given they typically have one for a show as soon as the season premieres, or for a movie the day it's released in theatres.

I hope it's not just before S3's premiere. That could be Spring 2020.

Could be just prior to Picard season one, for advertising purposes.

That's meant to be coming out around the end of the year, isn't it? If they release Discovery S2 around then, good opportunity to include a promo of some kind for Picard.

I still haven't got round to getting the Season One set, as I never quit CBSAA.

I never quit either but DVDs are kind of like the patch. :p

Rumor has it, though, there's no such thing as an ex-CBSAA user.

I still don't know when, and until CBS ends its pissing contest with DirecTV, I no longer care.

When they had their pissing contest with Spectrum (or was it still Time Warner back then?), I blamed the cable company. But now that they've gotten into a second pissing contest (which makes two more pissing contests than NBC and ABC, combined, have had in recent memory), with an entirely different distribution provider, it's clear to me that it's CBS that is responsible.

Let us hope CBS's pissing contest with DirecTV doesn't last that long. I don't remember how long the previous one lasted, only that it was very traumatic for my late mother (at the time, David Letterman was one of the few pleasures left in her life).

Apparently CBSAA has gained more subscribers since this thing with DirecTV has been going on.

But since STDisco is exclusive to CBSAA in the US market (and physical media when it becomes available) and is not aired on CBS TV channels, then the dispute isn't directly relevant to watching STDisco.

While I might find CBS's newfound penchant for pissing contests to be a reason to hook up the rooftop Yagi array (which I currently only use to get decent FM reception on KUSC) to at least one HD-ready TV (yes, we still have a couple that aren't), even if I had a broadband Internet connection at home (which I currently neither have nor want), I would consider this a reason not to subscribe to CBSAA (and to drop a subscription if I had one).

As it is, I thought twice before buying the latest two ST novels.
