What if Jerry Goldsmith had scored "The Wrath of Khan"?

    What if Henry Mancini had?

I also had another one for the Reliant attack, but copyright got that one.

    EDIT:
Here is the clip without the rescore:

Here is the edited music to put over the cue: https://a.uguu.se/Q7RZPXk3NAGv_T4.wav

The music in TWOK is just fine the way it is. I usually don't pay much attention to musical scores in movies and TV shows (I do want something there don't get me wrong), but TWOK really hit me as good.

Horner did a very good job on both ST2 and 3. Goldsmith was very good too but, different...

    Sadly, both are gone now...

Just to clarify; I like your homage to Star Trek The Motion Picture but I think The Wrath of Khan is fine just the way it is or at least the way it was when I first watched it on VHS tape, I don't care for the editing changes made to the DVD version or the colour changes made to the Blu ray version.

In fact I think the only movie that was ever improved by the director reinserting deleted scenes was Jim Cameron's Aliens. Scenes are deleted from movies in the first place because they are rubbish. (9 times out of 10)

Sometimes scenes are removed so a movie can meet a studio mandated run time, and not necesarily because a particular scene is "rubbish."

Theaters like sub 100 minute movies so they can turn over their audiences more often.

That would be that 10% exception I mentioned.

The versions of movies we see in the theater are the producers' cuts, and there may be creative decisions that the director didn't agree with.

Anyway, TWOK is a naval movie in space, so I think Horner's militaristic score is suited to it very well.

Given Goldsmith's talent, I'm sure he could have easily transformed his notions and style for the more sea-faring and militaristic tone of TWOK. That being said, I've always been more than satisfied with Horner's scores for TWOK and TSFS. If only Horner would have returned to finish off the trilogy with TVH...

Goldsmith is one of the best soundtrack composers ever.

That said, Horner's TWOK score was absolutely perfect for that film. I can't imagine the movie without it.

As much as I loved the TMP score I'm glad he didn't do it. I adore the horner soundtracks for TWOK and TSFS.

I am bias of James Horner's work so Goldsmith could've done something extraordinary for The Wrath of Khan and I would hold Horner's work higher. Horner created a great score, the best Star Trek musical score ever!!! In my opinion.

I'm sure that Goldsmith could have composed music that fit TWOK and pleased Nicholas Meyer. Horner's work was perfect for the film. The Genesis Countdown was my favorite composition from the score.

In his book, Meyer stated he wanted Goldsmith to return but couldn't afford him.

I love Goldsmith's TMP score which is brilliant for the film like John Williams Superman:The Movie score was. Horner's WOK score sounds good like a TOS reboot.

I think Goldsmith's music for TFF is more indicative of what a Goldsmith TWOK might have sounded like than TMP.

Yes, if Goldsmith had done TWOK, then we wouldn't have had the excellent soundtrack from Horner.

I was at the University of California Santa Barbara the day Horner's plane crashed. He took off from the airport immediately next to the University, so I find it humbling (and eerie) to know that he flew over me right before his fate.
