I had no interest in a Pike series when series 6 was first being discussed, because I didn't get the appeal of using a failed pilot from the 60s as the basis for a new show, nor the reverence that fans showed to characters who were on screen less than some aliens of the week. However, a spin-off based on the characters established in season 2 of Discovery? Yeah I'm all over that. Anson Mount has done a fantastic job selling this new Pike. He's finally more than a footnote in Prime Trek history and a generic Dumbledore/ObiWan mentor character in Kelvin history.
So no "Picard Show" then? (It's going to be early 25th century and ST: D is now in the 32nd century...)
"Oh, shit! maybe we didn't have to toss the whole thing out to satisfy the gatekeepers. Ah, coulda woulda shoulda"
Great to hear they're properly interested. For some reason, I'd convinced myself that Mount and Peck were both (totally understandably) reluctant to commit to doing potentially years of Star Trek material for a whole host of reasons, but it sounds like they're legit eager for it. Wonder if Romijin is on board too?
I have to say I would definitely watch a Pike Show! Anson Mount really killed it as Pike but so has Ethan Peck in my opinion. I loved how he did Spock this season. Although Lorca was great in season 1, I think season 2 was way better thanks to Pike/Spock. I was a little disappointed we didn't got to see more of Number 1 :-(
