I think that Mudd is smart enough to escape his wife and try to find Burnham only to discover that she's nowhere!!! Why deprive him of this pleasure?

They've booked the day after they're supposed to visit Siobhan Tilly and order her to doctor her daughter out of every single family video and to insist for the rest of her life that the second bedroom on the second floor has always been empty.

Seriously though, I hope the 'never speak of Discovery's crew again' bit only means altering their service records.

If you plan on setting a new chapter of a well known franchise inside an existing well developed continuity it has to respect that continuity in order to make sense. If they decided to set Discovery in the 25th or 26th century it wouldn't be a problem.

You're not fully comprehending the full scale of the time from the Picard series to where Discovery's presumed time period. That is 800 years-ish. That's a lot of time! It dwarfs the time from ENT to NEM.

Kurtzman indicated in an interview that the events of TOS/TNG are just a vague memory in Discovery's new era. By implication, the same applies to the Picard series. They can do most anything they want in the Picard series and have no bearing on a setting 800 years later! I mean, sure, the Picard series can't destroy all sentient life, but that's not going to happen anyway.

So, no worries, they can pretty much do what they want in the Picard series and in the Discovery series. :techman:

Yep. At the end they said they were able to rid the remnants of Control, meaning that there was at least some incarnation of Control left.

Exactly. Otherwise poor new starfleet officers sit at a table in a starbase bar and strike up a conversation with some Klingons "Human we were just talking of what a powerful ship and good fighters Discovery was when we fought them and the Gagarin"

"Uh.. Discovery.. you mean that 22nd century ship? I think its in a museum"

"No.. Discovery! You know.. it has a kind of pizza cutter thing going on.. Really long nacelles. You can't miss it. I think our Empress was aboard it for awhile when the back of her head was bigger. You know! DIscovery!!"

    "Never heard of it!"

    "Die you dishonorable liar!"

That sounds like Lt. Mann (addressed as such in this episode). The woman who I believe is Colt had no lines.

But only because he sent a command helmsman and a counselor there instead of an engineer or a repair robot in the first place even if just to work on the blast door that could save lives. We use robots to disarm weapons now, surely we would do it in the future?

Trek engineers run in three shifts so during a red alert there are three times the engineers available. This type of scenario that could destroy the entire ship is exactly what your damage control teams are for. Mind you, piloting thirty odd small craft must thin out your damage control teams substantially and Pike's crew was half Kirk's (albeit probably fewer scientists) and repair robots were doing their R2D2 thing on the hull.

I don't know. Perhaps the robots aren't sophisticated enough. You're right to criticise, but I suppose that to me, this particular instance doesn't matter too much, which is why I can easily hand-wave it.

    Yeaaaaa, NOPE.

As already discussed, a time jump was part of the plan early on. That should be easy to understand. However, if you're dead set on manufacturing an armchair psychobabble explanation for some reason, I guess that's your prerogative.

It's a staple of 'heroic fiction' that monologues and such conversation 'freeze time' in a story. Comic Books, Anime, they all do it. ;)

Not many people know but this was why the brawl at K7 originally broke out. The security recording was automatically intercepted by the mandatory Starfleet Discovery Filter and replaced with the version we see on TOS.

There was a young woman with red hair on the bridge; I assumed that was Colt.

I suspect Paradise misspoke, but no doubt people will now be jumping on her for lack of knowledge.
