I've always liked Felicity. I haven't entirely liked where her character has gone over the past couple of seasons, but I like Rickards's performance and I love how she pretty much has great chemistry with every actor she interacts with. I'm disappointed that she's leaving, because I was hoping they'd find a way to fold her into The Flash or maybe Batwoman once Arrow ended.
Even if she isn't a regular, depending on exactly how things play out there's always the chance she could still pop up on those shows.
Considering there is only 10 episodes after she leaves maybe this is setup for a her on another show beginning of next season? Seems like a odd choice to reveal her departure so early. Unless Emily as a non Felicity role that need to be announced soon.
A lot of people said that they thought that Oliver/Felicity romance took over the entire show. I'm not sure why Felicity got all the blame for it though. Oliver was just a bystander?
Disappointed that she's leaving, but I'm hoping she still pops up in the other shows (at least time to time).
Agreed. Though it’s been hard to believe Oliver really loved any of the women he was ever involved with. Felicity was a fun quirky supporting character in the early seasons. Better in small doses. She is someone I would never want to spend an extended period of time with. Her ackward degressions in serious situations feel like the writers not letting the character grow.
Or maybe she decided it for personal reasons a while ago, they wrote the storyline to accommodate it, and she didn't announce it publicly until the time was right. There's often a considerable lag between when something is decided and when the public learns about it.
would explain why it was Nyssa who trained Mia as she was growing up rather than Oliver. The current series could finish up that Star City is becoming too dangerous for a pregnant felicity so Oliver finds a nice safe country home for away from the danger (similar to what they did sending William away).
I feel bad for EBR. While I had issues with Felicity last season and maybe a little during season 4, I didn't have issues with the actress portraying her. In fact, I liked the personality that Emily brought to the show, and while everyone was hating Felicity, I got introduced to the character when she appeared on Flash. I'm hoping maybe Emily might do more Flash in the future, as I always thought the chemistry she had with the Flash crew was better than on Arrow. I'm surprised she didn't want to stay on for the final 10 episodes though. I wonder which came first. Her decision to leave or the decision to end the series.
As far as I am aware, Emily should still be contracted for next season, so this departure announcement feels a little bit strange without additional information and/or context.
