This stops now. I realize people have strong, deeply held beliefs but we don't need to turn this forum into the Octagon to get our points across. Please keep the political stuff out of here
Thank you. This really needs to be enforced across the entire board. As to the topic, Im glad Gunn is back. Now Im curious if Batista will be involved. He just recently popped up on RAW and it looks like he is heading for one final run at WrestleMania with Triple H.
Considering how adamant he was about supporting Gunn and demanding they use his script, I assume he'll drop everything so he can be in Vol. 3, no matter its schedule.
All this thread does is tell me that people celebrating this are driven by two things: 1) tribal ideological loyalty trumping principle (sorry, it needs to be said) 2) wanting to be entertained trumping principle (and I say that as a fan of GOTG) BTW, there's a debate going on currently as to whether we should sort of stop playing Michael Jackson's music in light of Leaving Neverland. Separating the art from the artist is a tough topic, but when a fanbase makes too much of that split it basically gives bad behavior a free-pass to the point of lopsided justice. So beyond Gunn's left-leaning politics, if he didn't have legions of fans who only trusted him to do a 3rd installment of a franchise, he simply would not have so much noble forgiveness bestowed on him. How we treat his tweets and how easily we forgive him shouldn't be based on who he is or what he provides to us or who "took him down". This is why mob justice is never truly fair.
Mod should lock the thread then. This topic is invariably linked with politics. BTW, every other dumpster fire here (like Captain Marvel, 115 pages and counting) is interlinked with politics as entertainment itself has become hopelessly interlinked with politics. It's impossible to completely stifle it.
You want to know why nobody cares about Gunn's Tweets anymore, is because he said them over a ago, as part of a persona he no longer uses, and he has apologized for them repeatedly, and hasn't made anymore Tweets like that in a very long time. He apolgized when the Tweets first came out a while back, he apologized when all of this was dug up after he was fired, and he just apologized again after he was rehired. As for the whole Joy Reid thing, which I never even heard about until today, that was MSNBC, which is part NBCUniversal/Comcast, not Disney. That was a different company, run by different people, so it's not really a fair comparison.
His words and actions have shown he’s changed. That’s why he’s treated as different than other cases. Especially ones facing consequences for things they just said.
Physical and mental age are frequently out of sync, though. This is especially true among those accustomed to being among the “catered to” when there is an overdue change on the menu.
Did anyone think this was not going to happen? Thank you Disney! Guardians 3 was going to suck without James Gunn.
I didn't think it would happen. I thought Disney wouldn't want to be associated with someone who wrote those icky tweets.
Are you kidding? Disney couldn't buy all the P.R. those "icky tweets" generated. Speaking of "icky." I'm feeling Icky from all those smart pills I've been taking.
