UPDATE: Scoll to post 18 for a more up-to-date version.

    Hey,

So I was thinking about my old idea for a Star Trek reboot again (the one I had 2 years before the actual reboot happened), and realised that if you only reboot TOS you're missing out on quite a bit of Trek's 'essence', which I think should be part of the point of a reboot. So I thought about a mixed crew from both shows and so on, and I tried to design an Enterprise that would marry both styles together, hopefully without looking Frankensteined.

UPDATE: Scoll to post 18 for a more up-to-date version.

    Anyway, here it is:

The engineering components in the cutaway view are meant to be a kind of modernised version of the TOS sets. Scotty's "bairns" are now 4 decks high!

One of the things I wanted was that this Enterprise be able to do everything that the ones from the series and movies could do. Hence the saucer separation, ion storm pod, etc. Saucer's also warp capable.

And here's the uniform to go with the idea:

Here's an update. I thought the pylons were too elongated so I pulled the nacelles closer together. I also changed the impulse deck, updated the secondary deflector, and improved the back of the neck to fit with the rest of the design better.

I've updated the images of the second version. Added a few details and improved others. Nothing major.

I've added the components view that I had hiherto omitted, however.

Slight update. I've changed the impulse drive wholly, and the back end of the nacelles.

Great call on shortening the distance between the nacelles (reducing the width gap between the pylons). Generally speaking, I find myself liking a narrower width gap between pylons, over time, in terms of Federation designs - so I really like your updated version!

    Great work :)

There are a lot of things I like. There is also a lot of things I dont like.
    The Good:
    • The saucer from top and bottom angles look great.
    • Smaller deflector dish that is inset.
    • The Front and top part of the neck that connects to the saucer.
    • Overall shape of the secondary hull.
    The Bad:
    • Top bit of saucer is too round flatten the outer part of the dome shape
    • I like the middle itineration of the impulse engines.
    • Neck needs to connect better to the secondary hull.
    • Nacelle pylons have curve on curve add a straight edge and beef them up a bit.
    • Get rid of the starfleet decal on the bottom of the secondary hull, looks like a treasure trail.
    • Also those small "L" divits near the deflector dish. Thats a no-no.
The Overall: Its a good design just needs some tweaks. I think it would be a better "B" or "C" tbh. Either way, Good work!

Like most of it, though I'm not sold on the nacelles and support struts.

I prefer the wider apart nacelles, the alternative looks off to me.

Another, more major update. I've enlarged the bottom module of the saucer, shortened the nacelles and made their aft end more TMP-like while making the ramscoops more TOS-like, and improved a host of other details such as slightly thicker pylons, etc.

That's a nice design, but apart from the pylons I don't see to much in common.
