The show doesn't imply that at all.

I think he means as in "Say goodnight, Gracie."

No, it doesn’t “imply”— it *shows* you history was changed by the Angel’s intervention.

Still doesn't imply that the TOS timline is the one where Michael died as a kid.

Speaking of TVH, I thought some of the background noises during the Spock/Burnham scenes sounded a lot like the Cetacean Probe's groans.

Airiam is under the control of whoever controls the squid probes. The crew just assumed it was someone working for S31.

Re: sound effects. The same sound effect from "The Cage" when Vina and the wreck survivors disappear is used when the true Vina is revealed to Burnham. It's subtle but unmistakable.

The Vina/Pike scene (before Spock and Burnham interrupted) was easily the best part of the episode.

I liked the Cage recap but it highlights the visual differences and frustrates me. Especially the re-designed Talosians. I thought the actress playing Vina did a fine job.

What Burnham did doesn’t surprise me. But it was a nice tie into TOS by using “half breed” as the slur she used. Kirk used that a couple times to either warn Spock about something (“what little girls are made of”) or to piss him off (“paradise syndrome”).

    Hated the Tyler/Stamets/Culber stuff.

I do like the more relaxed, almost cocky Saru.

The Gorgeiou stuff is fine but it’s just and endless loop of her getting over on Leyland. Would like him to get the upper hand at least once.

    A solid 7/10 for me.

No 60s guitar twang though. I'm totally writing those angry letters.

Yep. And in "The Galileo Seven," when the shuttle gets thrown off course, Kirk initially doesn't even know what solar system they could have ended up in.

It's funny. I had the completely opposite reaction. My reaction was, oh, that was all it was about?!

Yeah, I'm sure it seemed like a big deal when they were young. But, Spock knew why she did it. She had good intentions. It fully seems like one of those things you get over when you're a bit older. I can accept that they didn't for the sake of the story. But, that was my reaction to it. It was so easily explainable as an action by a child who had good intentions. Spock even sees it for what it was.

Misguided? Yeah. But something a rational person like Spock should be able to accept later. Maybe he does eventually. I also think Amanda would have that reaction as well.

    This gets a 9 from me. Well-done mid-season payoff!

    Random thoughts:
    Nice "Cage" intro.
SQL injection in the 23rd century? :wtf::rofl:
They got Talos IV just right!
It was nice catching up with Vina.
It's just like Spock to try to mind meld with some strange entity. :vulcan:
    Georgiou's craftiness continues.

That was awesome! Great show. I loved the "Previously on Star Trek" scenes. Burnham's reaction to the singing plants -- the subtle smile -- echoing Spock's reaction. Georgiou's comment that in the Mirror Universe (why would she call it that?), she destroyed the Talosians and "... their stupid singing plants...". It was a lot of fun.

Question: when Spock sees the future, he is on a snowy world in a parka -- not unlike when he sees the destruction of Vulcan by Nero. Did he see this? Is the destruction of the Federation that ensures Nero's actions to do just that?

What was up with the clips from The Cage at the beginning of the episode? I know they wanted to connect this episode with The Cage but that montage of clips with the funny editing was a bizarre way of doing it.
