For fun, I made a quick comp using the digital hangar bay model and photos of the 1/24 scale physical Javelin:

Shuttlebays are one of my favorite parts of a starship (along with Bridge and Main Engineering). This makes me happy.

This thread makes we want to go out into the garage, collect up all my model building supplies and ..... throw them in the bin.

[Vadar] Impressive .... most impressive [/Vadar]

I don't know. I don't think he's crushing my dreams ... in fact, every one of his posts inspires me! "Yeah, I can see what he's doing there. I can do that! He makes it look easy!"

And thus I rock myself to sleep at night ... reassured that someday, my models *will* be built. Yes! They will.

    They will.

    They will ...

Small update. A few interior modules have been designed, built and installed using a variety of methods. The Oasis promenade modules (port and starboard) were created in Sketchup and 3D printed. I then painted, pruned and lit them before installation into the secondary hull.

The Terra Nova lounge, located on the lower primary, was a composited image printed to 35mm slide film and backlit:

The VIP Suite was created with the help of Donny Versiga with a rendered view of his TMP era VIP lounge. Slightly customized for Endurance. This was again printed on 35mm slide film, backlit.

I think this may be the first starship model in all of human history with a pagoda inside it.

    A freakin’ PAGODA!

    With ... KOI! :guffaw::wtf: :eek:

Beautiful as always, my friend. You are one of our generation’s masters.

I now have a new nightmare: I've entered a model-building contest. I have plenty of time, decent skills, know how to pull off a few tricks that will get attention from the judges -- heck I might even be able to pull it off without any glue-fingerprints visible on the finished build.

And then I find out, halfway through, that Admiral Buck is one of the other entrants.

That is what it means to wake up in a cold sweat!

    ---

I can't wait to see a shot through the windows of the finished promenade modules. All lit up ... the little fishies doing fishy things ...

    Amazing work, Admiral!

I looove the idea of the little Japanese gardens, and the amount of details they have is insane beyond anything else I've ever seen on a Trek model... The other two lounges look really good as well!

I'm so giddy that we were able to use some of my work for one of your models. Such an honor!

I'm totally in love with the pagoda. Where did the idea come from? And the shuttlebay is nice and spacious, in combination with the ceilinglights it makes for a great atmosphere.

    The honor is mine Donny!

I had always the idea of an Oriental themed garden aboard ship, as an oasis for the crew. The teahouse structure simply completed the garden atmosphere along with the rock garden, koi pond, bridge, pathways and trimmed greenery. I imagine these settings as beamed into place from stored data as a pre-cursor to the holographic decks of the next generation.

The secondary hull bodywork is underway with the deflector cove build-out and primer coat:
