Of course it doesn't. But that doesn't stop these silly people coming up with these rumors and others from spreading them. It's just best to ignore them and keep rolling with the show.
I'd rather have Philip Hinchcliffe come back. He's done a few stories for Big Finish and they were terrific.
Only if you also resurrect Mary Whitehouse. You know, for the full entertainment effect. I'm down with this.
JNT............Jodie New Timelord...........OMG, they show has been foretelling it's own future!......(cue Who end title music from 70s)
No. The Eleventh Doctor chapter of The Lost Dimension crossover, however, was the most Cartmel Masterplan story since Lungbarrow.
What I heard is Chibnall didn't even want the job and was talked into and feels the BBC is interfering to much with the show. Whitaker would leave I suppose out of loyalty to him since I guess they go way back to "BroadChurch." Who knows if it's true but it sounds more possible than many fan theories. Also combined with what was said about how they have ran out of idea's, which lead to no Christmas special. If it does end up being true then what do you do? It would look really bad if he left so soon but then again maybe that's the point of this rumor. Great way to get power back from the BBC by threatening to leave meaning they have to pick up the pieces. I think they call it negoiating through the media. Jason
There's no Christmas special, but there is a New Years special - so it doesn't seem like they've run out of ideas that much.
I'm sure it's all just hot air and gossip, but if Chibnall did leave that would make something of a mockery of how much effort the BBC put into getting him; allowing him to rest after Broadchurch, persuading Moffat to keep going etc. If (big if) this is true then I hope the BBC has a backup plan in terms of a replacement who can slot in easily.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge -- Surprise, she was in consideration for Doctor Who, just not the Doctor... Here Beginneth the rumour.
As much as I would love that, it wouldn't happen. She turned dismissed the idea when the casting rumors started because she's so busy with her own projects, including the amazing shows Fleabag and Killing Eve.
Ah, but she's no longer the showrunner on Killing Eve, is she making time for the top spot on Doctor Who? (No, but fuck it, I can make shit up like I've got a youtube rumour channel.)
The funny thing is, if you only read internet message boards or watched *shudder* YouTube videos you'd think the Series and Jodie had been massive failures hated by everyone. As far as I can tell Chibnall got every single thing he asked the BBC for and was allowed to radically overhaul the series and in return he's made it a mainstream success again. The idea that he's about to chuck it all in makes no sense to me, at least for the reasons currently being stated.
Yes it would be very strange, but sometimes people get everything they want and still find that the experience doesn't live up to how they thought it would be, or they get a better offer elsewhere, or they realise they can't take it any further. I know the AI figures aren't the be all and end all, but for all that the ratings are up again the AI figures for this series, whilst not terrible, look to me like the worst the modern series has had. I said this with Capaldi but it may simply be that Who's been going on so long now that it just doesn't impress people as much as it once did, no matter what the actual quality is like. Still I'm sure the BBC won't care so long as 7.5 million viewers are watching every week!
Alas, no Looms. It was about Rasilon, the Other, and the first TARDIS way back in Gallifrey's ancient past.
