If you're not with us, you're against us. I reject this concept. I'm only here to create bold new worlds, new concepts, new situations, To go where no trek fan film has gone before.
So I'm busy in the pursuit, Does the thought of more prelude give cause to orgasms, No way.
Do I live my life for Axanar's total destruction? No I'd rather look on the positive side and all the new creations coming aboard.
So I'm probably on a lot of folk's shit list for not taking sides but this is where I've always thrived, doing my own thing.

Holy shit. This debacle might be the most popular thing in the history of TrekBBS.

    Congrats, Alec! You're a legend!

As to the cutting of ticket prices. Yeah, a niche of a niche of a niche of a niche of a market that attaches itself to a niche of a niche of another market probably isn't going to find too many people willing to plunk down stupid money to have the honor to drive through Atlanta traffic. Especially when I'm pretty sure you could just show up to OWC Warehouse/Studio and just ask to see the piles of plywood.

Well, in that case, why go to Atlanta? Just stop by your local Home Depot and you'll see a bridge that's just as complete.

In addition, most of Alec's target market have regularly and repeatedly given to the Axanar cause. There is only so much that can be wrung out of folks who have fallen for the Sunken Cost fallacy.

Um, hi...my name is Admiral2 and I'm an Axahater.

    (Support group: Hi, Admiral2!)

I'm an Axahater because I think "Prelude to Axanar" is about twenty minutes of paint-drying boredom starring a bunch of people trying to out-Vulcan Soval in their talking-head delivery (which is ironic, because one of those talking heads is Soval) and I would rather bait a crocodile with my manhood than see more of it made.

I'm an Axahater because the guy who gave us "Prelude" is a bankruptcy-prone bullshit artist who has managed to so closely associate himself with the very concept of the Battle of Axanar nobody with half a brain and some actual talent will even attempt to tell the story without him.

I'm an Axahater because the bullshit artist's new bullshit is sullying a celebration of one of my favorite fandoms - Honor Harrington - by trying to conflate his Axanar with it and trying to dupe attendees into paying him for the privilege of taking driving tours across Georgia to see a dormant construction site.

And I am an Axahater because I'm sure Axanar supporters would never see me as anything else...and I can live with that.

(sits down; support group leader thanks him for sharing...)

In all seriousness, Corporal, the definition of "Axahater" depends entirely on your point of view. It was coined by die-hard supporters of Alec Peters and Axanar and means "anyone who isn't a supporter." People who aren't supporters or are former supporters and who have legitimate questions about Peters and his methods generally don't consider themselves "haters", so for them the word is meaningless.

I can only speak for my own feelings. I hated "Prelude" with a fiery passion, so I have no problem being an Axahater.

People who were supporters also have legitimate questions...

Like where's my fucking Ares patch and BluRay of Prelude that I paid in good faith to get 4 years ago? Why do we hear of these very same things being sold at conventions to generate new revenue but those of us who at one time believed in this project were left out to twist in the wind? Just because all that money we originally donated went to legal costs and not the actual making of the film? Who's fucking fault is that? Fucking sushi-chewing coffee drinking shitstains...

I never considered myself an "Axahater", more like an "AxaSkeptic" (TM). I wanted to believe in it, and I genuinely enjoyed Prelude. I'm hoping that one day someone may usurp AP, either directly or after he gets thrown in jail for mail fraud or something, and builds a viable project with an element of maturity and professionalism that it has lacked since day-zero.

I have no problem with healthy skepticism. I myself am a pragmatist. But I have a real problem when people go over the deep end on either side. None of this matters any more to most everyone. So the Axahaters continue to hate, and the Axaphiles continue to love, and 98% of the rest of fandom goes merrily on their way.

Edited my post to align with yours.

Now I have a serious question: How do you know "The Uninterested" make up 98%?

^^^I believe he is generalizing. Most people I know who like/love Star Trek are unaware of a lot of what certain sectors of hardcore fandom get up in arms about, particularly fanfilms.

Forget that, just go to New York and visit Cawley's set. it's CBS official, it's complete, and things were actually shot on it (albeit fan films)

Evidently, LFIM is on the receiving end of a lawsuit. I admit I just skimmed the post -- defamation, I believe.

On AxaMonitor: Axanar's Alec Peters is being sued for defamation by a Las Vegas prop company after he threatened legal action over the six-figure sale, brokered by the company, of the model of the U.S.S. Enterprise-E from Star Trek: First Contact.

The suit seeks at least $15,000 in damages after Peters allegedly defamed the company, Hero Prop LLP, and one of its owners, in a series of posts in a large Facebook props enthusiasts’ group. Read more »

Wait...AP was trying to buy the original E-E filming miniature through that company??? Or was he trying to sell it through them? If the former, he must have a lot of spare cash lying about ... which he should be putting into Axanar. If the latter, he's looking to make a ton of cash ... which he should be putting into Axanar.

I'm kind of having a hard time following this.

No, he was trying to broker the sale from the previous owner to a new buyer. But the previous owner refused to have anything to do with Peters. Eventually, the model sold, and Peters claimed it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't tried brokering the sale first, so he should get $200,000 for failing to broker the deal.

The AxaMonitor article breaks it down for you if you want to read it.

Seeing as Peters got over 1.5 million the last time he failed to do something he promised, he probably thinks $200k is a bargain.
