Not sure. Quinto is a great actor, and I don't think he came close to Nimoy's interpretation of the role. There have been plenty of Vulcans over the years, and only Mark Lenard created one that I felt was worthy of Nimoy. I can't be 100 percent certain if that's the actor or the writing, but Spock must be more difficult to pull off than it looks.
Michael Burnham is right. Spock is wrong. Michael Burnham mentors Spock. Watch this Spock join the Discovery crew. It seems like they put massive effort into casting this Spock, based on the SDCC interviews. They wouldn't do that if Spock on STD was just some minor guest role.
I know he can get the job. But can he do the job? Harry. Yeah, Harry. But can he do the job? I know he can get the job. But can he do the job? I'm not arguing that with you. I'm not arguing that with you. I'm not arguing that with you. I'm not arguing that with you' Harry! Harry, Harry. Yeah, Harry, but can he do the job? I know he can get the job. But can he do the job? I'm not arguing that with you. Harry, I am not arguing that with you! Who said that? I didn't say that. If I said that, I would have been wrong. Maybe. Maybe. I'm not arguing that with you! Yeah, Harry, I know he can get the job. But can he do the job? I'm not arguing that with you! I am not arguing that with you! I am not arguing that with you! Who told you that? No! I told you that! Me! What? Maybe. Maybe, maybe. Maybe! "Joe vs the Volcano"
I disagree, if you're going to cast such an iconic Trek character, you're going to make sure you get it right - whether he's just there for one episode or the entire season. Imagine the backlash if you get it wrong (hell, look at the backlash already).
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they spun Anson, Rebecca, and Ethan Peck off into a full-fledged Pike prequel to TOS.
He looks the part. I can't wait for his new interpretation of Spock free of the baggage. This one has a sister afterall.
If Pike continues as Discovery Captain, Spock will have to join the Discovery crew as well. Spock served under Pike for over 11 years according to The Menagerie, but they didn't specify that it was solely on the Enterprise. This could be another case of Kurtzman "bending canon without breaking it" as he encourages his writers to do.
Yeah, and, besides, when they’re on the hype tour, everything is a massive effort. This wasn’t casting Scarlett for Gone With the Wind.
Burnham: All this trouble to find you was too traumatic and too much. Spock, just in case you happen to die or your crewmates get into legal trouble for rescuing you, don't expect me to show up next time around. I've got better things to do. Even if you actually come back from the dead, I've got things to do that are too important even for that. Spock: Fascinating. I must therefore logically conclude that you do not really wish to be a part of my life, and I will comply by never mentioning you to any colleagues or people ever again. :P
Spock as a little green man is just sooooo 1960s. Can’t we update it so he’s Ultra Violet, Pantone(TM) Color of the Year for 2018?
If Trek had unlimited budget, they could probably CGI Spock the way Star Wars' Rogue One did for Governor Tarkin.
Lol, it's only a stupid TV show. And this is a forum where we discuss the said tv show. They can do whatever they want with it. I am not going to come here and claim this was greatest casting ever. No it wasn't. I am also not going to claim I am done with STD and will stop watching it. But I will come here and say I am going to believe all their marketing bullshit just a little bit less now (not that it was a lot before anyway).
