Here in Canada Discovery is not on All Access. It's on Crave TV.

Canada is the only country where Discovery has a more "traditional" distribution deal with a cable company--and while that occasionally leads to quirks where a Canada-only video release happens, that usually only happens with Canadian productions or co-productions, so I wouldn't expect it to happen here.

Regardless, Canadian DVD release dates are almost always synced up with American release dates, with rare exceptions. Disco's not going to be one of those exceptions.

I'm torn on this one, I already own and read Hive, Intelligence Gathering, and Ghost, but I've only read part of The Space Between and would like to finish it and have been wanting to read Last Generation for ages.

I guess at this point the earliest we could see any new Star Trek novels would be 2019 (save for one more Voyager novel by Kirsten Beyer and not counting the Prometheus novel by Titan). I would think 2018 is definitely dead in the water. Soon someone may have to start a 2020 thread because it seems right now everything is at a standstill. Someone on another thread posted something by David Mack about some news, but apparently that was unrelated to Star Trek.

Not sure if the ongoing Paramount vs. CBS, how shall we put it, family squabbles is playing a role here, but at this point I get the gist that whatever is going on there will not be any new novels for a while.

If they continue the relaunches (which I hope they do) whoever writes the novels is probably going to need to bring everyone up to speed as to where we're at, like teachers after a long summer vacation.

IIRC, it was very much related to Star Trek as he said there was going to be a Star Trek announcement "soon." The problem is we don't know when "soon" is, although one should hope we get something by the next Vegas Con as it was Vegas Con last year we last got any news.

I should have said unrelated to Star Trek novels...I heard his announcement was not related to the novels (though maybe I'm wrong)

If you have a UHD (4K) TV, does Discovery get streamed from CBS in HDR? I know it does from Netflix outside the USA. Looks quite good with HDR.

My TV doesn’t support 4K. But at 40-inches I don’t think I would get the benefit of 4K——100 inches probably. However, as far as I can tell, neither does CraveTV.

I read on a Facebook Trek books group that an unnamed but "reliable" source says Trek novels will resume next year, with the currently contracted authors.

It was on Facebook, so it's gotta be true.

Well this latest nugget was posted by the admin. of that FB page, who said got press credentials at some conventions, so seems would be rather embarrassing if that weren't so, but yes will wait for official confirmation before getting excited. Anyway, maybe at the forthcoming STLV festival there will be an announcement (for what that might be worth, ie harkening back to last year's supposed new info. ).

This coupled with Mack’s expectation on twitter a few months back that things should be back on track shortly, has me hopeful. Plus didn’t Therin have a similar ‘unnamable sources say we are close to an announcement’ moment a few weeks ago?

I’m eagarly awaiting Star Trek Las Vegas.

I hope so. I mean, I am still like 50 novels behind, but 2 years ago I was 150 behind, so I will catch up eventually.

Actually the longer it takes the less I miss the Star Trek novels.
Especially now that I am going to reread the most of books I have

In the tabloid press ‘reliable unnamed sources’ usually means ‘we made it up’.

I refuse to be excited, or disappointed, until I see some actual news on this.
