France 1st goal came from a dive to win the free kick. 2nd one was NEVER a pen. Croatia played the better football but 2 individual brilliant strikes and 2 dodgy as hell calls cost them World Cup glory. FUCK VAR!
France still converted the free kick into a goal. That was not a guarantee. Actually, yes, it was. It was clearly a handball. So you are just pissed that VAR went against them because you wanted them to win. But the VAR does not lie.
So what, you don't make that excuse when someone dives for a penalty "oh he's got to at least convert it"...Griezmann dived to win a free kick in a World Cup Final, that's plain cheating. Half of VAR is down to the ref's interpretation of the law, it causes as many problems as it claims to sort out. The ex players back in studio for BBC & ITV (from what I've seen on YT) were more against the handball than for it because they know the rule book. * The French player in front of him blocks his line of sight towards the ball so then by time he can fully see it, which is a split second, it's too late. The French player skews his header so it runs down the back of his head and diverts the ball to the Perisic's arm (that makes it accidental right away). His arm had come out briefly to let him jump and then he was withdrawing it back to his side and enough had been withdrawn by the time the ball made contact with it, so that's a natural movement IMO. Handball must be deliberate or in the case of accidental "stop a clear goal scoring chance" This meets none of the requirements. VAR biggest problem is they show the Ref everything slown down, it needs to be seen in real time. I wanted the best team to win, don't make assumptions for me.
Congratulations to France, shame I slept through 80 minutes of the match. Meanwhile in England, Southgate tube station has been temporarily renamed 'Gareth Southgate'.
I think that VAR ( video assistant referee ) helped alot with this World Cup in teams of goals. Attackers felt more confidence attacking knowing that VAR had their back in the penalty box. Hence they took more risks while defenders had to be more careful. We got one of the highest goals scoring World Cup in recent memory. The WC final had 6 goals. That makes it the highest scoring final since 1958.
Well done France and very well done Croatia! Take note F.A England, there are more people living in London than in Croatia and yet we still struggle to consistently make a major impact in global football. For shame!
