    Suspends, not scraps.

A real shame, but hardly a surprise.

Suspended, scrapped, who gives a Shit?
Just as long as they slowly roast in Development Hell, where they belong.

What a delicious day. Tell me Rain is out and I just may have to clean my self. Twice.

Hardly surprising. General interest in Star Wars movies is a bit like Atlantic cod. You can’t keep going for the big catch without depleting the stock. Best let them replenish between movies.

Damn. The Obi-Wan standalone was the only one I wanted.

Fine by me if they scrap the rest for all time, however.

The article specifically says that Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones' B&B's movies are still in development. So they aren't totally scrapping everything before the core saga, thankfully.
I doubt this is actually the end of the A Star Wars Story movies, they're probably just taking time to reevaluate their release strategy.
I think there is a lot of potential in the anthology movies, so I really hope they go back to them once they get things figured out.

That's too bad. I liked Solo a lot and I was excited for more of those kind of stories. Oh well.

Mildly disappointed about the Obi-Wan spin-off being on hold, but if this means they don't make the fucking Boba Fett movie, I'll consider it a fair trade.

This is only the beginning. If Disney thinks a one-off movie is risky, they have got to have concerns about not one but two untested trilogies. They're still weighing their very expensive options on those before making any decisions.

Besides, it's easy to drop whatever his name was from directing the Fett movie. It's a different story to suddenly cut loose the creators of Game of Thrones or dare I say it Rian Johnson. Though once they come to terms with the fact that it was the backlash from his shitty movie that created this whole embarrassing debacle and put them in this situation in the first place, we'll probably be getting news about his departure next...

...Well, Kathleen Kennedy will probably be next; But soon Rian. Very, very soon.

One article is not conclusive evidence of anything.

IF the major Hollywood Trades pick this up (and, so far, they haven't), THEN I'll believe it has any validity. Until then, it's just a rumor and should be treated as such.

I still hope they'll do an Obi-Wan movie eventually. Good news there at least is there's not a huge rush to do it since McGregor's still got some room to age.

That James Mangold/Boba Fett announcement immediately prior to Solo's release is looking pretty awkward now, though.

    To my fellow SW fans:
Please stop treating this like it's some set-in-stone official decision UNTIL the major Hollywood trades pick up the story OR Lucasfilm actually confirms it.

SW is "hitting the wall" and Trek is making a comeback. How long before bookstore shelf space evens out again? Oh, wait. They have to actually be putting out more Trek books before that can happen.

I'll admit, the possibility of an Ewan McGregor Joel Edgerton "buddy film" was the only one that even sounded like a good idea.

    * Yeah, I agree. They have plenty of time to still make this one.

The Collider article does not say "scrapped." That's editorialization by the OP. What it says in relation to the Obi-Wan film is:

Sources with knowledge of the situation tell Collider that Lucasfilm has decided to put plans for more A Star Wars Story spinoff movies on hold [...]. Sources tell us that the previously rumored Obi-Wan movie was in active development, but those who were working on the film are no longer involved.

    [...]

we’re hearing that plans to revisit this A Star Wars Story format have been put on hold for the moment.

    [...]

    More as we hear it.

Okay Disney, we talked it over.

Do an Obi-Wan trilogy with the Game of Thrones guys.
