Update 2: The Daleks come to Twitch for six day marathon

From 17th February until 22nd February, Doctor Who fans will be able to watch 12 adventures featuring the Daleks – from 1963’s The Daleks to 1988’s Remembrance of the Daleks as well as 1983’s 20th anniversary story The Five Doctors – while chatting live to thousands of other viewers around the world on Twitch.

This special screening follows Twitch’s successful classic Doctor Who marathon which ran for seven weeks starting in May 2018 and ran for seven weeks and the encore marathon which ran in January 2019 and ran for four weeks. The Dalek episodes in this marathon and the The Five Doctors were all missing from both runs, so this is the perfect opportunity to catch up with these classic stories!

Tune in every day from 17th to 22nd February at 10am PT / 6pm GMT to catch the Daleks in classic Doctor Who episodes on Twitch – save the date!

You can find a full episode listing with US and UK screening times in our Watch section.

Update: Doctor Who has returned to Twitch!

"Over 500 classic episodes from the 26 seasons of classic Doctor Who will air worldwide on the live streaming video platform Twitch from January 5th 2019.

Fans will be able to watch adventures featuring the first seven Doctors – from 1963’s An Unearthly Child to 1989’s Survival – while chatting live to thousands of other viewers around the world."

    Here's the time table!

    And now the old one:

"From May 29th 2018, you’ll be able to tune in every weekday (Monday to Friday at 11am PDT / 7pm UK) and watch classic Doctor Who episodes, while chatting along with other fans on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/twitchpresents

Episodes will be shown in blocks, and repeated three times a day. See the full list of stories below, with provisional screening times from a Pacific US or UK perspective."
    From:https://www.doctorwho.tv/watch/twitch/

This seems pretty cool to me, since I only ever watched the first two seasons of the first Doctor and the Sixth and Seventh Doctor's eras, so this is a nice chance for me to catch up on Doctors 2-5.

(There is also this announcement video for people who don't like reading: )

I mus say, I'm really loving the new logo. Its not quite as nostalgic for me as the RTD one, but it definitely is better than the Moffat one, by a country mile and then some.

Sounds like fun but I wish they would tell us which serials they're watching.

According to this site pretty much all of them. The only exceptions seem to be the ones containing lost episodes from the first and second Doctor's period.

Ah, thanks for that. For some reason that schedule didn't show up before. Looks like they're playing the whole thing from beginning to end non-stop, like they did with Mr. Rogers about a month ago.

The Web of Fear, but not The Tenth Planet?

Do they know something we don't?

"The Web of Fear" is only missing its third episode (consisting of six overall), while "The Tenth Planet" misses its final episode, so maybe they thought showing a serial without its resolution made less sense than showing one where the middle part is missing? Anyway, "The Tenth Planet" is one that I wouldn't skip either way, for obvious reasons.

I thought getting animated replacements for missing episodes meant PRECISELY that they could be used for purposes such as these. Why leave them out of twitch?

    Purist crap.

The Tenth Planet episode four is animated, The Web of Fear episode three isn’t. That’s the point I was getting at. I’d prefer an animated episode (especially if it’s an important one), versus any photosnap-style recreation.

The animated version of Web-3 exists, the actual film was lost or stolen or bought by somebody else while Phil was working on obtaining all the prints...

Given the state of the films in the abandoned building and how many had already rotted over time, it's very possible Web-3 may have not been the most sound purchase at the time.

Still doesn't explain why The Invasion or The Ice Warriors, or even the recently released Power of the Daleks or even Shada aren't there. Seems a trifle snobbish, IMO.

Is there another way to access this than via the link in the OP? I went there, tried to follow the internal link, and kept getting redirected back to the main page.

Or are (as usual) Canadians excluded?

There’s no animated version released by the BBC. I’m not particularly interested in fan efforts. The version of Web 3 on the DVD was a quick and dirty recon created from telesnaps.

Yes, the actual episode went missing between being found in Nigeria and the rest of the episodes’ recovery. Given the condition of the recovered episodes, I doubt Web 3 would be in too bad a shape.

I was finally able to watch this (thanks so much, everyone, for not helping me figure out how, since I was unable to access it via the link upthread; Google to the rescue).

    :vulcan:

I'd forgotten how good the Dalek story was.

I wasn't able to watch it yesterday because I just had an oral exam, but no I've got the entire next month to ruin my sleep cycle/watch classic Who!

The plus side is you don't have to watch the whole day because they're only showing a few serials each day and then repeating them two more times.
