I've been wanting to watch B5 but it doesn't look like any of the streaming services has it included :(

If you're in the US, you just missed it on Go90. And if you're in the UK it just ended on Pick TV. Those are the only ones I'm aware of recently.

Great the one thing on Amazon Prime I might actually want to watch and it’s something I already got on DVD.

I’ll be watching it though, streaming it daily, doing my bit to demonstrate that the demand is there for someone to finance a renaissance.

Surprised that no one's mentioning this series of tweets that Joe's been sending to Amazon over the past 24 hours....

    This all sounds very interesting!

Can you provide a link to the tweets themselves?

Apologies, I'll just link to Joe's Twitter as it now seems to be developing into a running commentary - very interesting stuff indeed though :)

    I said out, dammit!
Heck, I'd even buy the series on disk again if they do that!
Mind, you, I also spent hundreds on the VHS release, which was never completed. I never even took one season out of the shrink wrap before I threw it away, because the DVDs came out right about then.

Over the years I've shelled out for all the VHS sets, and all of the DVDs, and I'd happily buy this again. Even if they only put it on Amazon I'd pay for this. Considering that we've always largely thought that the VFX were a no-go for HD, without them being done from scratch, this at least gives hope of something much, much better than the existing DVDs.

I can happily live with 4:3 for this in HD. :)

It's amazing how the finales got better with each passing season, because I watched Chrysalis last night and I still think it's one of the best first season finales of any series I have seen, including Farscape, Star Trek, Doctor Who(2005) (I haven't seen the popular ones these days like Game of Thrones or Westworld). I think it gets better with each passing rewatch because it sets up so much for the series to come and the events are still shocking, especially everything almost happening at once right after the turn of the New Year. I think it's a really underrated finale but when you have stuff like Za'Ha'Dum, The Fall of Night, or Deconstruction of Falling Stars (Which I find a little overrated, actually), B5 sure knew how to end seasons with high tension and suspense.

Completely agree, and to add; it certainly knew how to end the series too - Sleeping in Light is still my favourite finale of all time. Perfect in conception, execution, tone, acting, music, everything....Beat that!....and nothing has in nearly two decades!

Essentially it's not up to Joe. He's made Amazon (and everyone else) aware that these prints exist. With Amazon beginning to stream the show next month he's obviously hoping that Amazon (perhaps with some gentle persuasion from fans) will approach WBs to have new masters made from these prints.

Whether Amazon bite, and play ball though, is anyone's guess.

The important thing is - the idea of B5 in HD, is not as completely impossible as we, up until now, have thought.

Any scene containing CGI would still be SD, although if it isn't cropped from 4:3 to 16:9, the amount of blurriness should be reduced. However, I can't see Amazon stumping up the cash for this if they don't think the return on their investment will be worthwhile. Warners might just flat out say no, of course.

Yeah, the VFX and composites are still restrained by the underlying 480p render, however it's a safe bet that both pure VFX and the composite shots would look a lot better than they currently do on the DVDs. That alone would be worth it IMO.

I could see Amazon standing back and waiting to see how many people stream the series in SD before making a decision on whether to stump up $$$ to have new masters made.

Well I will certainly stream it, if it’s even available in the UK. I can’t see it making an any extra revenue though. There must be many like me who have amazon prime simply because £79 to cover the Christmas delivery charges seemed like a bargain. The extra tv content doesn’t even register,

I do hope they get an upgrade though

I was wondering. Will Crusade and the movies and even the Lost Tales also be on Amazon?
