CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Movies have been funded a hundred different ways. Ed Wood infamously got much of the backing for Plan 9 From Outer Space from J. Edward Reynolds, a devout Southern Baptist, with Wood and several cast members getting baptized to further the relationship. There's nothing groundbreaking here except the internet makes it easier to reach large numbers of potential backers.

 

It's really unfortunate that if you substitute "suckers" for "backers" you pretty much describe the Axanar situation.

Wow, is this a normal thing? I've never heard of a con like this going on in the middle of a mall, most of the ones I've come across are at convention centers or hotels or places like that.
