Interesting. I looked it up and found a photo, and it looks a lot more like the series version than the 'gate does. Glowy bits, stone/mineral finish rather than the plastic or metal look of the 'gate... I'd suspect that they're using one from SG-1 they still had in storage, or at least parts of one, rather than building a new one from scratch.

The closing credits on the webisodes credit "additional props" to (amongst others) Frank Cerny, a formerly frequent poster over on The RPF who I know ended up over the years with a ton of props and costumes from both the TV series and movie. (The 'gate itself is separately credited to "Greg Aronowitz and Associates, Inc.")

And it being a rental would explain why they wouldn't repaint it to match the new look.

Thanks - Where it asked for log in details I thought you did.

Having signed up it appears that the website is Chrome only (or at least doesn't work on IE) and then seems to be pretty badly designed.

To answer my original question, I'm not sure they do say anything interesting!!

One thought has just occurred to me: Bruick talks about there being a DHD in Berlin. Does anyone remember that from SG1?

Yes, in the episode Watergate, it was mentioned that the Russian DHD was taken from the Germans during WW2.

This was ok not great. I'm not really a "the canon" person but I have an issue with it retconning the whole purpose of the movie and TV show.

Originally they could only dial 6 chevrons and that was it. It took Daniel Jackson to figure out how to dial the 7th chevron. How they already know how to dial 7 so there is no need to Daniel to ever be called in.

I can forgive the rest and don't care but that is pretty big. I'm assuming something will happen at the end where everybody gets amnesia and forgets how to work the gate.

Also in the 1994 movie, Jackson figured out the 7th Chevron was the pyramid with the circle over it, to which Catherine and the other scientists were surprised and said 'yes, of course'. In these 3 episodes she now knows there are 7 and the last one is the pyramid so this contradicts the 1994 movie and the TV show. My guess is she, her dad, and and the two other friends will forget about this adventure at the end of these episodes, preserving canon. The 3 remaining Nazis on Abydos will probably die (Aset already killed one of them). Not sure about the Nazi (with no pants) that did not go through the gate.

This feels more like a higher end fan film than anything else, the gate does not even look quite the same. Everything feels smaller and not as grand in scope as the movie or SG1 even. It a shame since its an MGM production. I'm curious what the film budget was, seems like it was under 500k or so. Also I don't buy Conner Trineer as the father, something is off there. I will, of course, keep watching to see how this turns out.

I’m expecting Thor or somebody to show up at the end claim earth isn’t ready yet and wipe their minds for them to learn the info when they are ready.

True, although Micheal was hardly the most compelling villain on Atlantis IMO. They took it a little to far with him I think.

Supposedly it's supposed to be canon, so either that was a lie to begin with (or they never did their research properly...) or there will indeed be some kind of mind-wipe thing.

The other thing I found odd was how sure the head Nazi was about how use the gate like adding power from the car knowing that I had to be dialed a certain way etc.. Almost like he has done it before. His book just showed the symbols and some general drawings.

Yeah that was indeed odd. I guess the 10 minute format forced them to skip alot of explaination.

Maybe we should make a new thread, or have this one renamed.

Did anyone else catch episodes 4 and 5 , definitely a lot more connections to both the 1994 movie and the series. Catherine, press the the big red button on the DHD! LOL

Young Kasuf! (Daniel Jackson's father in law)

    Also, another Harcesis child... hmm

So who plays the first one you mentioned and the 2nd one.

Does the 1st do a good job?

Erik Avari (who I have met a few times) plays Kasuf in the 1994 movie and has a guest stared in SG1 a couple times. Not sure who plays the young Kasuf (will look at the credits) but it an unknown actor. Erik Avari is much much better though than this young actor. Does that answer your question?

Part of the DHD prop was actually from SG-1

Not exactly. I knew the actor you were talking about.

I meant the two in Origins.

You did answer my question on the comparison which is unfortunate
