I'm fond of this analysis that someone did over on reddit.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned, but I noticed something interesting with the saucer walkway tubes.

In the first zoom in when Michael and Tilly are jogging, the tube corridor extends pretty deep into the inner saucer with no obstructions.

But in the second zoom in, when that crewmember is repairing the bulkhead lighting, the corridor leading into the inner saucer has a bulkhead/blast door dividing the the walkway and the ship.

I prefer the arrangement in the second picture, but it's an interesting change for an area featured so prominently.
EDIT: It is also the same walkway being zoomed into both times. I triple checked.

I guess they filmed a different stretch of the corridor set and composited that into the same place.

The ship took damage between episodes so I guess you could say it was rebuilt if you wanted.

We've got a size for the Shepard class

Finally an official number, corresponds well with the length of the Discovery considering that 1/3 of that ship is nacelle.

Originally thought the Enterprise would be around 450m at most but after seeing this it looks like it will be well into the +500m range.

A fair amount of that 500m length on the Kerala is taken by the swept back nacelles though.

I've seen 1500' (457m) on Facebook regarding the Discoprise, but I've no idea if that's guesswork or not.

Sounds like a possibility, it's towards the lower end of the options though if you ask me especially as the Enterprise is more compact than many of the ships we have seen in Discovery with many of them having nacelles that sweep back far from the rest of the ship making the ships seem longer and therefore larger than they really are.

Its not just a matter of the saucer and engineering section being of a comparable size and scale but the nacelles as well, I think the nacelles are going to look rather tiny compared to some of the ships we have seen and the Enterprise is supposed to be a fast among Starfleet ships due to the distances travelled and time away from base.

I am thinking 500-550m for the Enterprise, especially after seeing the size of the Kerala as it doesn't look as big as the Europa (Nimitz) and Hoover (Edison) class.

The Enterprise certainly doesn't look anything like the size of the Kelvin 1701 but I am not willing to put a cap on the size of the ship as yet, we haven't really seen enough to put an upper limit on it.

Perhaps CBS will release a comparison poster or similar at some point, maybe even Eaglemoss who is doing the models.

Ask and ye shall receive. Here's a photo of Eaglemoss' size comparison chart.

The Enterprise. She is so small!

    Thanks for that.

Was expecting the Enterprise to be a bit larger to really match up with the ships like the Europa and Edison, instead it barely matches the Shenzou in overall size, bit odd for a deep space explorer and it's certainly not the Big E anymore.

It really does strike me as the odd ship out design wise, I understand why they wanted to keep the Enterprise as true to the original as possible but why didn't they make the other ships sections match it more closely.

The ships seem to be from different era's even though we know they are not with the exception of the Shenzou and Discovery.

Perhaps they really were concerned about copyright issues and decided to play it safe.

Probably not intentional, but as depicted here the Enterprise stands out as a vessel very much designed to be on the leading edge of diplomacy. It carries the pomp of state with it in a way your workaday starship does not. Sure, they can all conduct science and first contact, but the Enterprise looks prestigious.

How do we know that’s the size chart?

That is a fair point. The Vulcan Corvette is definitely out of scale (unless the one we saw in the MU was way bigger than the one Sarek was riding around in earlier in the season, which, you know, happens).

Eaglemoss announced a forthcoming size-comparison chart and then this picture appeared from Germany. I guess it's possible it isn't, but if not, why are they sized as they are? It's certainly not to make them look uniform on the poster.

I do recall it being said (not sure if it was us or them) that they scaled it up for it's mirror universe appearance.

Here's a size comparison of the TOS, TMP and DSC Enteprises, along with the Discovery herself. The size chart seems to corroborate the 1500-foot number floating around the internet for the Discoprise.

That matches the rumoured size of 450ish metres, so it is over 50% longer than previously. I am thankful that they did not go completely crazy and scale it to Kelvinverse proportions. At least it is not the smallest ship around, it is a mid-sized ship. That is fine by me.

Also, this chart seems to be missing Eagle Class.

I hope it turns out to be another small ship. There are only two classes that are clearly smaller than Connie, so it would be nice if there were more of those.

Yeah it looks about right to me for 450m, I never thought it would be Kelvinprise in size, it simply didn't look that big when we saw it.

Even so its not exactly the Big E any more is it, would have liked it to be a bit bigger to better match the other large Starfleet ships we have seen like the Europa.
