So besides the Andorian in the council scene in TVH, is this the only other time we've seen an Andorian in a Starfleet uniform?

There were Andorians on the Enterprise in TMP, and an Andorian on the ISS Avenger in In a Mirror, Darkly.

    Oh, and Thelin, of course.

    Question:

While Discovery was en route to Vega to plant the spores Mike says goodbye to Sarak and he goes to the transporter.

WTF! Can they now transport Sarak to the Vulcan home world while warping to Vega? They can transport you any where. Transporters are now like a subway.... I'll grab the 5 O'Clock to regula!

Maybe he was just transporting into the shuttlebay. Quicker than walking or using the turbolift.

Or maybe the ship that they have come aboard is still with Discovery. I hate that they didn't show the ship or a ship departing right after that scene. It would have clarified it easily

I loved this episode! My first 10. A little less action and more talk. Love the shout out to Archer and Enterprise. I wonder how this will end next week...

I wonder if all the ships destroyed are all those horrible looking ones, just leaving behind the TOS ones. :)

I mentioned that earlier. They seem to use the transporters a bit too much here.

I’m getting Parallels with Star Trek Destiny where Starfleet is losing the war with the Borg and in desperation, Picard orders La Forge to use Thalaron weaponry against them and he refuses, causing a schism between them.
I see that playing a big part next week; with the Emperor wanting to do something heinous and Michael refuses saying it’s too extreme.

Maybe they got tired of non-sense writing and decided to leave?

What they can’t beam directly to Qo’noS? :)

Spore Drive question: I remember an old discussion from years ago about the Breen being a form of intelligent, super-evolved Fungi. Their suits are cold to help their bodies maintain bipedal cohesion. I don't know if this theory wound up being true, but if it was, could there be any connection between the Breen and the spore drive?

    I loved this.

I was saying to a dear friend of mine that there’s no way to put Georgiou back in the Captain’s chair without looking very silly. But then they did exactly that, and I was all ‘oh my god i love this.’ They even had the pony-tail-around-the-shoulder thing with Yeoh’s hair that I love from the pilot. My facebook friends are sick of me posting pics of Georgiou, but it’s starting to look as it though it may be the price one pays for being my buddy

I’ve never been convinced by arguments that Jason Isaacs anchored this show or that he is irreplaceable. Nice guy, good actor. Don’t care really care whether he’s there or not. I’d far sooner watch Michelle Yeoh, but recognise that’s a personal preference. This episode would not have been enhanced by Isaacs’ presence - Trek seems to anchor itself around whomever is in the captain’s chair.

It was nice to see Jayne Brook get some great material here too. Katrina Cornwall is becoming one of the first non-stupid Admirals in Starfleet history. Her conversation with L’Rell was good stuff. Her growing acceptance of Michael is nice too.

Special shout-out for the Tilly/Burnham scene in the science lab, and the Tyler/Tilly scene in the mess hall. The latter was just plain nice. Pop culture is in desperate need of characters who are kind. I’m glad Star Trek hasn’t forgotten that.

We still don’t know what the Breen are in the main canon. In the novels the Breen are actually multiple species who wear those suits so that they all look the same.

This. I love Isaacs, he's a great actor, fun to watch, but Lorca's dead now, and as much as I love Saru (who has really come into his own these past few episodes), I'd love to see the dynamic of two women commanding a ship, both Captain and First Officer, make a resurgence again.

Problem is women captains tend to get their ships destroyed, or lost. :)

And it was the same Andorian we saw in the MU, Shukar.
