    Hello all,

Yesterday I was considering installing Starfleet Command 3 on my PC as I am really in the mood to play a Star Trek game, especially one I have not finished before, but after considering it for a while I decided not to to for the following reasons

    - I already spoiled the storyline for myself and I did not find it that interesting (the usual Romulans are up to some trick to undermine the Federation-Klingon Empire alliance)
    - I also don't like how story missions are now mandatory instead, demanding that the player carries them out immediately when they are unlocked, instead of simply being there to allow the player to advance the campaign but in the meantime allow them to play random generated missions that allow the player to earn prestige which allows them to hire better crew, and buy better weapons and/or ships to be better prepared for the more difficult story missions.

People may suggest here that I should play Starfleet Command 1, 2, or OP instead but I am not really a fan of the Starfleet Battles setting and its unique species and technologies, I really want to play a TNG era game.

But to the subject, does anyone here know if there are any new Star Trek games in development outside expansion packs for Star Trek Online and the fan made Star Trek Excalibur?
I have been looking around on Google myself and other than the Online games there doesn't seem to be any information about any new games being in development.

Star Trek games tend to be rather obscure so perhaps any news of a new game in development doesn't quickly appear when using a search engine.

Does anyone here know of any titles that are not mentioned on places like Trekcore that are yet to come out?

Nothing that I am aware of. Though I imagine the crash and burn of Mass Effect: Andromeda will make any publisher leery of doing something expensive with the Star Trek brand.

Hmm, do companies associate Star Trek now that much with Mass Effect Andromeda, or do they make the comparison because both are science fiction genre games?

I find the the comparison between the two brands not fitting. Furthermore MEA suffered in sales because of the bad design and development that was done on this title. Despite ME3 the brand was still considered a strong one before Bioware Montreal blew it.
I am sure people are still interested in science fiction games, but they want to play GOOD science fiction games, not one that are average and way to political or social issue oriented.

Another one to look at is 2013's Star Trek. It had flaws, but was in the bargain bins within weeks of its release. Gamers had no real interest in it, even during opening week.

And I do think the problems with Mass Effect: Andromeda would spook a prospective publisher to some degree. These games are costing upwards of $20 million dollars to make now. That's not counting licensing.

That game is a good example for this topic, why there is not any news on new Star Trek games in development. And it relatively hyped to for Star Trek fans.

True. These days a small or medium budget Star Trek game would not fare. Paramount and/or NBC would also insist it would be a big seller, if necessary include micro transactions.

I guess a Star Trek Discovery game might be possible, and that along with Star Trek Enterprise are the two Star Trek series right now I personally would not want to see a game of. (well and the Kelvin verse)

I honestly would not expect a game set in the TNG/DSN/VGR era as that has pretty much ended fifteen years ago, but it also means that whatever Star Trek games will come out in the future they will be most likely not anything I want to play.

Honestly, right now I'd just settle for GOG.com getting a hold of the Activision-published Trek PC games. Sure, I have a bunch of them on discs, but I'm too used to modern conveniences like installing across multiple PCs with cloud saves.

There are several Trek mobile games that are updated fairly regularly.
I tried Trexels and I enjoyed it first, but after a while I got bored because it was taking forever to get the necessary resources to progress.
Wrath of Gems gameplay was OK, but the Trek inaccuracies in the story bothered me so much I couldn't take it. They had a season one beardless Riker with Season 3+ Geordi and Worf, and they kept repeatedly referring to a Cardassian starship commander as Captain instead of Gul.
I tried Timelines twice, but it wouldn't run on my tablet.

Star Trek Bridge Crew is now available for non-VR systems. I purchased it for $30 on Steam for my PC. Pretty sweet game!

But that still requires a headset right?
From what I understand Star Trek Bridge Crew is not very fun when you don't have other people to play with.

Trexels, Gems, Timelines. I understand the kind of market these games are designed for but I don't consider them in the same league like games such as the adventure ones, Bridge Commander, and other "big" titles.

^Non-VR Bridge Crew won't need a headset, needing the headset is what makes it VR, so no VR=no headset.

Heh I should probably have updated that post. I figured that one out after five minutes of research on Steam.
A bit dumb of me for misunderstanding that.

It would be nice if someone brought out a game for the Switch, or a game for all the consoles, that is like Elite Force or Crossroads Of Time. I’m not really a fan of online, so I really enjoy a game where I can get right into the story without having to go online.

I managed to trade for a Steam copy recently (trading/buying keys is the only way to get it, since it was pulled from the store).

Even as someone who likes the Kelvin films, I abandoned it after three hours. It's awful.

What kind of things do you like about it? What makes it a sweet game? I'm curious to learn as much as I can before I decide to purchase it or not.

I completely agree, though I must admit that it depends on my mood. Though having the option would be nice.

It's almost certainly not going to happen. The Activision games are in legal hell and may never come out of that. Activision actually sued Viacom in 2002, claiming they had mishandled the IP and wanted out of their contract. It has been pretty much downhill for ST games since the early 2000s. Nothing has really compared to the few years at the end of the 90s/early 2000s where we had like 3 games a year coming out, and a lot of them were good. Granted, some were pretty terrible, but there were gems like the Elite Force series, Armada series, etc.

I think someone working on a voyager game in unreal engine 4 but the progress on it is really slow.

And it is going to have a story but i don't know how it will happen once he finishes most of the stuff then needs voice actors and stuff.
