The Order of the Lords of the Sith was a splinter group of Dark Jedi, who left the Jedi Order in the Second Great Schism. They became one of the most dangerous sects in galactic history. After a Jedi civil war between light and dark Jedi known as the Hundred Year Darkness, the Dark Jedi left the Old Republic around 7000 BBY.

The exiled Jedi founded a totalitarian colonial empire in the unknown regions, by conquering the Sith species, renaming their new order Lords of the Sith. But not all loyal soldiers of their empire were force users, many were rank and file soldiers. Eventually the new empire met the expanding Old Republic, leading to the Great Hyperspace War. After the Republic, in an unwise fit of fear, attempted to wipe out the Sith Order and Sith species, subsequent rump states and empires who owed their lineage to the Sith Empire, attempted to enact revenge on the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order, in a holy war lasting millennia.

5000 BBY - Massassi Sith Warriors

The first foot soldiers of the Sith Empire were a slave caste of warriors, known as the Massassi, who saw the fallen Jedi as deities. They were eugenically bred toward being muscular enforcers for their fallen Jedi masters, and largely perished with the original Sith Empire, when the Republic attempted to wipe out all traces of their culture. By this time the Sith Empire had conquered many human and alien worlds, so that their starships were staffed by multiple species.

4000 BBY - Tetan Soliders of The Krath

The next group of soldiers that the Sith employed, when their order was revived by Exar Kun, were Tetan soldiers, loyal to the Krath cult; a dark-side organisation with religious pretensions. They were equipped with the standard armor of their day and age, wielding blasters and vibroweapons.

3960 BBY - Revanite Sith Troopers

The next group of Sith Troopers, now equipped with the latest full-body armor, were the soldiers employed by Darth Revan's resurrected Sith Empire. In contrast to the slaves and feudal levies of the past, these Sith were professionals, many of them former Republic soldiers and marines. They also wore full body armor, the Republic and Sith perhaps being inspired by the Mandalorians toward higher quality infantry.

3600 BBY - Great War Era Sith Troopers

Unknown to the Republic, a rump state of the original Sith Empire existed in the unknown regions of the Outer Rim, and when they re-emerged, they had also adopted a more sophisticated infantry force of disciplined warriors, just as the Republic had. The Sith Empire has always been very multi-species, with a predominantly human, or Sith-human hybrid, Jedi elite, ruling a Sith, human and alien empire, but by this time the Sith species were rare, and other humans and aliens filled the ranks of both the Sith Lords, military officers and infantry.

1020 BBY - New Sith Wars Troopers

After thousands of years of being fragmented and almost entirely destroyed in the Old Sith Wars, the Sith Order was again revived by a fallen Jedi around 2000 BBY, uniting the scattered remnants of surviving Sith clans; leading to a devastating dark age of war that almost devastated the Republic. It also employed the latest infantry techniques, and again, it's leaders were devoted to getting revenge for the ancient genocide of the Sith.

The Sith Empire Troopers from The Old Republic are probably among my favorites.
Also, technically, I believe the troops from the Eternal Empire would fall under this as well.

Ah true - I haven't played that expansion, so don't know as much - but I've read the old Tales of the Jedi comics, and Knight Errant, played KOTOR, etc.

Not fan of some of the designs in SWTOR, they're too close to the movies. Especially the Republic troopers.

KOTOR 1 and 2 was more unique design wise.

Some of them are. But playing through that game, especially as a Bounty Hunter and there are some unique designs that get encountered. A lot of things feel very bulky too.

One of the pistols they added was a near 1:1 replica of the Bryar Pistol design from Battlefront 1 lol

I didn't say it was perfect.

Also, Bryar pistol is from the original Dark Forces! Kyle Katarn would like a word with you ;)

Yeah, I know where it first appeared, but the design they used in SWTOR is specifically based off the redesign made for BF1.

And I love it, got a pair for my Bounty Hunter.

    Always.

The more interesting aspect of Sith Armor is places were the influence can felt without being overtly Sith. The Eternal Empire is the perfect example, because the armor feels like it has been weathered deliberately to give it age:
