    Total bossballs?

    I RULED THAT FORUM.

Okay, that's not remotely true, but I was a role model for posters there. And today you call one of those posters Elon Musk.

I have a thought. If our threads continue to exist even after a poster "leaves" then did that poster really leave because his/her threads are still apart of the board. Threads are like idea's. They never die and live on even after the original creator has moved on. Not only that but when you read that thread, what you read also exists in the reader, forever. We now all exist partially inside each other and will until the day we die!

Well, since I have a TOS FAQ thread pinned in the TOS Forum and an Official Welcome Thread in the Kelvin Forum, it's kind of like I'm always around. Even when I'm not.

Okay, that's scary. But anyway, I guess we should put our best foot forward for posterity. Who knows who might be reading this in 3000?

In Bavaria, we have a saying: three moves equal one house fire. It's really amazing how many things one acquires over the years and how much gets lost or broken in a move.
Btw, I moved almost 6 years ago and still have half a dozen unpacked crates in the attic.
(But I bravely sorted out half of one yesterday =) )

Nice to see you around Lord Garth

You know who I want to come back?
I want to see susannah, Barcode, EEMeltonIV,, where'sSaavik, Lisa, Nate, JonathanWally, Verteron, DatJongetje & Callisto among others come back. At least say hello and how their lives are going. I was close to the last four for a while back at the dawn of time.

I did leave for about 5 years or so. Not that I am really back either, at least compared to how active I was circa 2002-5. I say 97% of the 16,680 posts I made are prior to 2005. I just occasionally log in (maybe months and months between logins) when new episodes of Discovery or Doctor Who is on. And mainly I just like to read, I don't need to talk about the shows these days. However I was a big time poster last year (2017) - 14 posts!!!!

    {{{{{{{Robert}}}}}}} long time, no see!
Vert is still around, occasionally. The others from your list have vanished completely or might be still around but covered their traces well.

Sometimes lower tech and less storage capacity has its advantages.

True, but on the other hand there were a few really funny threads that also got lost.

To give that some more context, I think most people with long memories vaguely recall me. I was most active back in the 'second age' of TrekBBS, around 2002-2004, during the era of Lisa and the trolls, but after the era of DEAverification, Susannah, TheLoneEnsign, Red Whacker and so on, which I guess counts as the classic era. Someone should write a history book for this place at some point.

Anyways, I ran the IRC room, moderated and admined for a bit, ran a spin-off board and helped with the tech on several other spin-off boards. Then I wound it down after one too many dramas and crucially after I finished up my second stint in academia and had to get a real job.

Since then I've occasionally appeared when the planets aligned and gone on a two week posting stint, this time I'm back to talk Discovery now I've finally watched it.

Nice to be remembered, and nice to see a familiar name around these parts as well! I remember all those characters. Gosh we had some crazy fun and dramas with that lot, didn't we. I do wonder where they've all ended up.

As for the life update, things are pretty similar to always. I'm still living in London and currently trying to do a tech startup. It's a busy time with a fast growing company but I've managed to squeeze in some Star Trek Discovery over the Christmas and New Year. Hope you're well too, Robert!

*gasp!* You're getting soft, Bonzie !
    ;)

RL took its toll of most of us oldtimers. Quite a number of us left when they married (batboy, DatJongetje, Callisto), moved (Red Whacker), had some sort of RL problem that required all their time (Aurian, PreatorX, Tigerlily) or had their own boards to care for (missmanners, partsking). Sadly, some stopped posting for reason of being dead. :(
Rather al lot ceased or massively reduced posting here when they got a job (Stastny, BlazerBoy, Verteron, Hamblin)
Apropos: what do you do for "a real job" now, Vert?
