I dunno, it seemed pretty nocuous to me. (Which, believe it or not, is an actual word. I know -- it surprised me too.)

And my point was that their reason for using "Equinox" was probably more "This sounds generally cool and ominous and mysterious" or "This is meant by its namers to usher in some important transition analogous to the changing of the seasons" than "This will thrill the five people in the world who remember that there's a Marvel character named Equinox." Not everything is an Easter egg.

I think I read a quote from the showrunner saying that the second season wouldn't address the issue of David's father directly, that there are other things to focus on before maybe getting to that in a later season.

Noah Hawley has said he would have to cut a deal with the the Fox movie department (and I expect Marvel as well) before they could introduce Professor X. The drone tech seemed like Professor X's sort of thing, although perhaps a little advanced.

^Yes, but that doesn't mean he plans to get to it in season 2 specifically. Indeed, the line about how he hasn't really started thinking about it yet makes it unlikely that he could get to it before season 3 at the soonest. The show has short seasons, after all, so there's only so much you can focus on each year. Especially in a show like this, which prioritizes style over exposition. Heck, we hardly even know anything about the characters other than David and Syd, or about the nature of this "war" going on in the background. I expect season 2 will flesh out Division 3 and the larger human-mutant conflict. Something like David's quest for his father is likely to be more of a long-running arc that will develop more gradually over the course of the series.

    I said out, dammit!
My Mom used to watch Days of Our Lives when I was a kid. There was a whole week of episodes when a bomb was going to go off "in 5 minutes". It took a whole week  ! And BTW, John DeLancie played a crazy scientist on the show at that time.

That's along the lines I was thinking of. While it may have looked simple and easy in application, perhaps it requires a lot of energy to operate, hence why it didn't speed away after capturing David. Or perhaps they've never used it before, even as a test, so it was a risky maneuver with uncertain chances of suceess.

Based on the conversation between Dan Stevens and Patrick Stewart during their interview with James Corden, sounds like it's purely hypothetical, albeit one that both parties are interested in. Noah Hawley has also said that he's open to using the character but is in no hurry to use him, which is probably because of a combination of creative, logistical, and financial reasons.

Yeah... It would just be common sense to start off operating from the assumption that they couldn't get a big-name movie actor to appear in their little cable show, and base their story planning on that assumption, with enough flexibility to rework things if their show happened to do well enough, or the big-name movie actor were obliging enough, that it somehow became a possibility.

I think the real Professor X should look like the animated stick figure in David's brain. Patrick Stewart could still voice him, though.

Not only was the show's score designed to keep viewers off-balanced, the composer, Jeff Russo, was inspired by Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon.

    They have good taste.

Sadly, no word if the soundtrack will be released in any form.

Well, I FINNNNNNNNALLY went through this on my DVR and quite the crazy ride. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that found it confusing at times. Sometimes I don't seem to catch everything I should watching shows so that's a bit of a relief. I feel I need to watch this again and try to connect the dots.

This show really makes a lot of others look like they're half-assing it as my dad likes to say. Whatever the hell this show is they seem to be putting some real effort into creating it. Love some of the creative touches from the 70s Wes Anderson vibe with Oliver to the crazy dance scenes or musical numbers and so on. Thought my recording got fried when the sound went out, shouldn't be watching that on a sleepless night at five in the morning, lol. Even got a They Live thing with the glasses that see the truth.

I can believe that story that when they found Aubrey Plaza that they decided to give her the part even though she didn't fit the character because she's been quite a revelation. Really fun performance. Between her, Jemaine Clement and Mackenzie Gray there were some great quirky looks and performances. Bill Irwin reminded me of BIll Nighy and Amber Midthunder reminds me of somebody, maybe Summer Glau? I think I liked just about everyone though.

Marvel products seem to be the mainstream stuff and Fox gives us the interesting (if not always good or successful) ones. Despite not having everything under one umbrella I like having the two different approaches.

So are the comics anything at all like this? I remember at the time they came out I thought the character looked weird and I wasn't into it but thought it might be time to give them another look.

Apologies for responding two months later but there was a part where they panned up from the floor over her white laced boots and I was put in mind of Emma and figured I must be nuts and the only person who'd ever think that. Seeing your post doesn't make me feel any more sure that I'm not but at least I'm not alone.

Man, this show...damn! Normally I have a hard time getting into shows that are spacey and kind of dreamy, but this show just drew me in the spacier and dreamier it got. There wasn't much I didn't like. I love shows with ensemble casts where the characters are all very different and this show did this brilliantly. I caught season On Demand and rewatched it on Hulu.

Some great acting and storytelling. Yeah, Aubrey Plaza was just great...scary even. Loved the way the show used music as part o the story. Oliver was great, yes. The way they presented flashbacks, and memories was just great.

BTW, I thought Lenny was a real patient at Clockworks. I was unfamiliar with this entire aspect of the X-men universe and now, as with "Logan", I am anxious for more. Last scene in the finale was a trip. Anyone have any idea of what is happening to David?

The good news is that it sounds like Singer's credit was one of those "in name only" deals and shouldn't affect Legion's actual operation.

Yeah. As one of the articles said, the only reason he has an EP credit on The Gifted is because he directed the pilot and thus is contractually entitled to one, which is why it's harder for them to take his name off.

Perhaps so. I can't wait for the second season.

And gods, I love Aubrey Plaza. She has such a grand presence just with her voice.
