Merry Christmas Eve, Whovians! Christmas is just around the corner and so is Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat's swan song as well as the long-awaited introduction of Jodie Whittaker. I really do hope this episode is as special as it appears in the previews.

    I don't want him go.

Also, in my view, this is a really special extension. Kinda like what the Fifth Doctor got in the audios, with that episode where got trapped by the Master while he was regenerating in Caves. I think we can all agree, that the season 10 finale was in itself the meaty regeneration story.

Looking forward to it so much! After a bit of a wait, we finally get some more Doctor Who. Still bitter sweet though since we will be saying goodbye to Capaldi. I wish he had stayed longer. He was a fantastic Doctor. Get the kleenex ready. I suspect we will be crying a lot by the end of this special.

A very low key sort of Christmas special and that was a nice change of pace IMO. A jolly good episode that was just about the main character and not a villian of the week trying to do something bad. Peter grew into his role over his tenure rather than the explosive starts that Tennant & Smith had by the end, he's done himself proud and the franchise a whole.

I would like to also add that for all the shit people give Moffat, he has done admirable work in a no win situation as Sci fi fans are the biggest babies on the planet ;)

I'm waiting for Twitter to start women driver jokes because of what happened with the Tardis after 13 appeared.

    Basically, I loved it.

It wasn't perfect, by any means, and the plot was very paperthin. But I enjoyed the performances, the emotion was definitely there and the interaction between 1 and 12 is simply wonderful, I could've watched the two of them go at it for hours on end.

Four things I disliked, though: Clara's appearence was awfully obviously greenscreen. Why not have there? The preview of the Doctors to come for One, was dissapointing. Once again the Genesis of the Daleks clip for Four, an awful amount of Five, and I didn't catch any Six, Seven or Two. And way too much of the Warrior, honestly. Twelve's final speech was, frankly, too long and too meta. Its obviously Moffat talking, and I appreciate the reference to the Doctor's name (a plot point for so many of his stories with Eleven), but it was simply too long-winded. And finally, the regeneration itself seemed lite compared to Ten's.

But beyond those nickers, I enjoyed it enormously. Brilliant! And damn if I won't miss the Twelve Doctor....

I'd been looking forward to that, but sadly it was all-round terrible. A complete nothing of a story, Daleks shoehorned in again, pointless cameo's, terrible monologue and all.

    Rotten.

First off this isn't a criticism! That was nice. Nice is good. No evil aliens just two old men accepting change. I know One wasn't really that sexist but still, the "any more language like that..." line made me giggle.

Liked the use of the Christmas truce and liked One's comment about wanting to understand why evil doesn't win every time. It was obvious but still nice that Gatiss was Lethbridge Steward's father/grandfather. Nice to see Bill and Nardole, and even Clara. I will miss Capaldi.

Not much of an introduction for Jodie and, being honest, it felt a tad too much like David into Matt.

    Farewell Doctor :(

    Also, hello Doctor :)

Well both of them were holding in the regenerations, always messy for the console room.

God that cameo from Nardole, reminded me just how much I enjoyed Matt Lucas last season.

Clara was to 12 (despite starting with 11) as Amy was to 11 (his best friend) so I'm glad she was there at the end despite what some of the fan base may think of her.

I just disliked the greenscreen effect. I wish she'd have been there, physically, with Nardole and Billie.

I really enjoyed the episode. David Bradley is fantastic as the first doctor. The end speech went on a bit though and was a bit OTT and a lot of waffle. I saw the episode last week in Salford when they had a preview screening tour. The episode was cut as Capaldi's face changed to Jodie Whittaker with 'To Be Continued on Christmas Day' and I kind of wish they were able to end 'The Doctor Falls' that way. Would have have a lot more impact. Particularly as they announced her casting a couple of weeks later. Will really miss Capaldi but look forward to 2018 and the first female doctor!

Bradley and Capaldi were both great, but wasted in this.
