Did anyone watch this last night?
I know it's not a documentary but I found myself rolling my eyes at the opening.
But the mafia plot looks like it could be good I just wonder how many of them will be left alive by the end.

Pity Donald Sumpter was only in one scene, but it was good to see him pop up. I didn't recognize him at first with that rubbish mustache.

I've largely forgotten what happened last season, so I spent most of the episode going "Oh, yeah, that happened." Probably a few other things I've forgotten about. Is the murder that the Mafia getting revenge for something we saw last season or some other time? I honestly can't recall.

I saw on IMDb Aiden Gillen is in this season. Is that true? I question it because it said he was in this episode but we definitely didn't see him.

I don't know if you remember at the end of the last series, after they killed the head gangster they let his wife go because she was their teacher.
Well she must have told her son what has happened because he's the one who is after them now.

Ahhhh...that does sound very familiar. Okay, thanks for the reminder.

This is what happens when you watch too many television shows: You forget everything from the previous season when the next one starts.

Yeah I had to rack my brain to remember what had happened. The whole hanging stuff was terrifyingly done, but also a tad predictable as well. If it wasn't that they were clearly all set to drop at once I'd have laid money on one of the men dropping before the pardon came through.

Quite a brutal fight in the cellar
never trust the sous chef

In terms of the end it seems highly likely
John's dead. He took a lot of hits. I'm hoping Michael survives. He was definitely shot but from what I could see he was hit once in the shoulder so I'm guessing John was shielding him from much of the fire. It comes down to whether the mafia guys move in to finish the job (and whether they target Esme and their child(ren?) really. I wouldn't put it past Esme to come out guns blazing!

How many episodes before Tommy's shagging the Union woman then? (though she is a real historical personage so maybe not)

    I have the same problem.
I can't remember what started the feud in the first place.

The cocky, overly confident one. In other words, Tommy Shelby.

Well, if it's currently airing in the UK, that means it will hit Netflix when it's done, so .... We here in the Colonies will see it in February or March 2018? Yes? No?

Not entirely sure about Adrian Brody's Marlon Brando impersonation! Have to say this one is gripping me more early doors than S3 did (which was more of a slow burn)

Anyone in the UK who wants a catch-up, BBC4 begins nightly triple bills of the entire run on Saturday 9th (all four seasons).

It looks like this week they have all forgotten how to shoot straight and for some reason their builts can't go through wooded crates.
And am I the only one worried for Lizzi?
Also I wish I could charge people extra for being cunts.:rommie:

It's amazing how much foresight Tommy has. Every time we think the Italians have him cornered, he's ready for them because reasons!

It's gotten to the point that I haven't worried for his life since the priests went after him (in series 2, I believe). Because of that, I'm skeptical of Alfie actually selling him out.

That being said, lots of great acting this episode. Riveting scenes between Helen McCrory and Aiden Gillien (so weird seeing him get outsmarted so easily), Cillian Murphy and Charlie Murphy, and Adrien Brody and Tom Hardy. I forgive the show's writing sins because of how much these actors chew up the scenery. :D

I must admit I was a bit worried when I saw Tommy playing golf.
But it looks like normal service has been resumed.:rommie:

Well, I was wrong about Alfie, which was refreshing, but it's also a shame that Tom Hardy is no longer part of the show. He was one of the best parts.

Still, it makes sense, giving way to the new plot lines introduced in the epilogue. Thomas Shelby, MP. Oh, my, that will be a lot of fun next series. :guffaw:

As for the rest of the episode, surprise, surprise, Tommy is several steps ahead of everyone yet again. They really need to stop doing that because it really undercuts the drama...even if I did believe Arthur was actually dead (largely because I'm shocked he's still alive at this point).

Yeah, that was rather worrisome for a moment. No rest for the weary!
