So weird to look at the standings and see Vegas doing so well.

This Vegas success is getting really obscene. 7-0 win over the Avs tonight.

This can’t be sustainable. It kind of reminds me of several years ago the Indians had a hot start and then crashed back to earth. I like the Vegas story but this is getting crazy now.

Good night of hockey tonight. Starts with the sharks, than the ducks and lightning and it ends with Caps and Oilers.

How long can Vegas hold out with a 4th string goalie and an emergency WHL backup? I bet Florida is kicking themselves for letting Gallant go, considering how well Vegas has been performing.

Is this another year of the Blues being Washington-West? Consistently impress in the regular season, fall in the playoffs. They always seem to run into teams that are bound for the Finals.

That Sharks/Ducks game is one of the reasons I like hockey. Fast moving, rivalry game and it was just really entertaining to watch. The moves Donskoi put on in the shootout were amazing. I only wish it was 10 minute 3 on 3 instead of 5 because I don’t like the shootout.

Oilers are languishing near the bottom, just as they have been for the past decade. Was last season a fluke? Will McDavid push them to a more respectable finish?

Montreal loses 6-0 to the Leafs after giving Arizona their first regulation win after 20+ games. Talk about a team in disarray.

Montreal might be the biggest disappointment of the league so far. I know last year they were not good without Price, but Price got off to such a horrid start this year and the team has just kind of followed suit.

I wonder if the Jets can hold onto a playoff spot. They have a really likeable roster, but need to get some real postseason experience pronto. Starting with winning a playoff game.

I think they'll hold onto it as long as Hellebuyck can somehow keep up the crazy goaltending act he's been on.

I’d like to see the Jets make the playoffs. They seem like the less talked about Canadian team and those fans are insane there. Also I miss @Steven’s posts. ;)

Mid-December and the Lightning and Blues are still reigning at the top of their conferences. The return of Stamkos has been huge for Tampa, while Brayden Schenn has looked like an incredible pickup for the Blues.

It's depressing how bad Buffalo still are. They've been rebuilding for years but look to have completely screwed it up. They might need to start all over.

I feel bad for Eichel. It seems like he was supposed to be this star player but McDavid, Matthews, and Laine just passed him by. His talents are being wasted in Buffalo.

Buffalo seems to always be a dumpster fire. After the players mutiny last year, I don't see things changing until they rotate out some of the personnel and don't let Eichel run the show.

Man, the Metro division is just a gauntlet. Every single team is still in contention for a playoff spot. In contrast, the top three in the Atlantic have basically been set for a while now and 4th place, the Panthers, are 17 points behind Toronto.

The race of the top three in the Atlantic has become really interesting though now too with six points from Tampa in first to Toronto in third. As a Leafs fan, I'd rather come out as the 1st seed and play a Carolina/Columbus/Islanders in the first round and have Tampa and Boston beat each other up.

How far do you see the Leafs going this year? Second round or beyond?

Man, it's funny to think how high I was on the Oilers during the summer. Then again, just about every hockey fan was.

It all depends who they hit in the first round. If they're playing Carolina/Columbus/Islanders, I give them at least two rounds. If they have to play through a bloodbath with Tampa or Boston, they may not get out of the first round.
