Strange New World. I like how the earliest episodes really made space explorations seem risky and dangerous, but I'm not a fan of the whole paranoid mind altered crew thing.

Fight or Flight? Gonna have to send it on a flight out of here. One or two nice ideas, ultimately undermined by Archer coming across less as a determined and dedicated captain and more like an intemperate idiot.

Right I'll take out Civilization now. I never found it particularly enthralling.

Now that most of the strongest episodes are gone, I choose Shockwave. Daniels is a dweeb, and works only in small doses.

I'm pretty happy with these final choices, all my favorites are still kicking. I'll ax Breaking The Ice next. I like it, it's just the least memorable of what is remaining.

I will eliminate "VOX SOLA". I love all the remaining ones, so it is down to least of the favorites. This episode falls under that reason.

I'll take off Broken Bow. It's well executed but the other episodes are better.

Silent Enemy is silenced. I love the B-plot but the whole random hostile alien angle bugs me.

I'll give Shuttlepod One the victory. Andorian Incident is overall quite decent, but let down by the ending; both Archer's decisions and the reason for the Vulcans having the spy array in the first place needed more development.

Well, I was rooting for Silent Enemy and Vox Sola as the finalists, but I knew that was a long shot! I also like Shuttlepod One as the winner.

But seriously, I need to rave about Vox Sola for a minute. I saw that episode for the very first time this summer and thought it was crazy good! "How do I not see this discussed as one of the great Trek episodes all the time?", I wondered. It reminded me of DS9's "Civil Defense" -- a simple setup, but executed exceptionally well, in a way that really elevates it to something great. The first-act build is terrifying. It's such a strong ensemble outing, I can't think of another ep that gave everyone something meaningful to do (which is also it's one flaw, they would have been better off giving everyone except Mayweather something to do, but I get the impulse)

The music in Vox Sola is also, randomly, terrific.
