Yup, the email came this morning. Apparently, they announced it during the Turkey Day Marathon, but I didn't get to watch.

Oh, I missed the last part of the marathon. I tried pausing the stream during Arrow, but apparently the "Twitch" thing that was airing it wouldn't let you pause for a full hour. In previous years, I was able to pause the stream and catch up or jump forward through it later, but apparently this service doesn't allow that. And the last movie they showed didn't interest me. So I missed the last couple of host segments. (I also skipped Warrior of the Lost World, partly because the audio and video were out of sync, but mainly because the feed failed just at the start of the movie and I couldn't get it back for a while.)

And Jonah's reaction to the renewal implies that he survives that rather dark cliffhanger at the end of season 11. I was kinda wondering about that.

Now if we can just make most episodes in Season 12 as funny as "Cry Wilderness" that will be an awesome thing! Hands down that was the best episode of the past season. I can't wait to check out the new episodes!

    HI KEEBA!!!

Great news. Although I had mixed feelings about season 11 (it often felt overly scripted and rushed, especially early on), I'm glad the franchise is continuing.

Yay, they're using different camera angles in the SOL set.

It's such a petty thing but it makes me happy.

(I'm not so thrilled that it appears the voice actors are still not puppeteering the robots, judging by the atrocious lipsynch. [Beak synch?] Which is weird because on the live tour they most definitely do, and the results are superior.)

Shout Factory is also having a marathon the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
So excited for the new episodes I may feign being "too sick" to drive to a relatives house that day.
"No, you go, have fun. I just feel really bad."
(in the distance can be heard "WE'VE GOT MOVIE SIGN!!!")

I know of it from working in a video store for a few years. Never popped it in the VCR though.

It was an infamously bad attempt to rip off E.T.: The Extraterrestrial. I've never seen it myself, because I saw the reviews when it came out and thus was warned off.

Waitaminute, a marathon on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. That just a little over 24 hours. I need chips, dip, water, coffee, other assorted snack "foods" and probably a way to check my sugar level and a defibrillator.

This ought to brighten up some faces in this thread if you're feeling a little down. Turkey Day 1991. The one that started it all, and the greatest of them all.

While we're eagerly waiting for the Turkey Day marathon of new episodes, I thought we could spend some of that time with a bit of retrospective speculation.

As most of us know, one of Joel Hodgson's real like hobbies was building robot sculptures from cast off products. It was that craft that resulted in the memorable 'Bot puppets that are so intrinsic to the series.

But what if Joel had taken a different path? What if he were a fan of Jim Henson's creations (maybe he is, who knows?) and decided to sculpt "critters" instead?

Funny enough, I can imagine a scenario in which Joel Robinson is accompanied not by 'Bots in the theater, but diminutive "aliens". Instead of using parts that control when "the movie begins and ends", a pair of curious rapscallion "Martians" (or whatever) crash into the SoL, damaging what minimal control Joel may have had. Because their saucer is wrecked, they too are now trapped upon the station and try to make the best of the situation, joining Joel to watch the movies, curious about human behavior.

I can see such a format unfolding much the way the actual show progressed. The "invention exchange" could have remained. AS they would be equally "innocent" of "normal" personal interaction, the alien pair could pull maybe of the same stunts. One could maintain the "worldly" and "naive" dynamic between the two and having a slight reverence for Joel as he is the first human they personally encountered.

The one element of which I'm unsure is Gypsy. Somehow, I just don't see her as an alien, one that integrates herself with the station to sustain its function. maybe she'd maintain a robot, one which was more cognitive before our "Mutt & Jeff" Martians crash into the craft and afterwards is left a bit "addled", focusing iher remaining processing resources upon things like life support and whatnot.

Okay, here's my question. If Crow and Servo were "organic" puppets, how might you imagine them?
