I chose those parts of the film because I felt one worked in my opinion and one did not, and they are (despite your protestations) similar to one another because they show a developing relationship between two characters (one that has gone the romance route, one that could.) as I have already stated. Initially I start by simply choosing a thing I like a lot in the film, and a thing I don’t think worked in the film. It’s what you do when you looking at narratives.

At this point, I think it’s just coming down to some crusade...that or you are trolling. Because funnily enough yeah people get ‘defensive’ when someone implies or says something offensive about them. ‘Offensive’ ‘defensive’ see how that works?
I am gonna disengage, because frankly, I have stayed my case enough times that sane people know I am neither a rascist nor a sexist as you imply earlier, and discussing the narrative points with you just isn’t interesting, because you are obsessed with gender readings or just Spock and Uhura frankly.
I mean I also liked Syl, who illustrated a bunch of stuff about how well Kirk knows his crew, and how they are willing to trust him...and how sometimes that doesn’t end well. She also had a cool Make-up design. But you probably read all that and assume I therefore want her to get Uhuras Job somehow. *shrug*

No. Why burden the film with his personal life?

    Matt Reeves?

Alex Kurtzman's probably free after Dark Universe crashed and burned.

Paramount and Sony have been slugging it out for last place for years now. I imagine both of them are contemplating shutting down their movie producing studios. Fox lost Star Wars to Disney, and their recent Plant of the Apes movie underperformed. All they have left is X-Men.

Star Trek should make port at WB. They'll invest in the IP and have the money and clout to make it as big as it deserves.

Don't know. The article doesn't suggest that the reason has to do with a more general trimming back by the studio but specific to the Transformers franchise.

My gods they've really made five of those things?

Right, but the Transformers movies have been far and away more profitable than Star Trek ever dreamed of being. If Transformers 5 box office was a disappointment enough at $600 mil to cancel a sequel, Beyond's $343 mil can't be looking too good.

Living as I do with a twelve year old Transformers fanatic, sigh, I can confirm that sad fact. Thank god Shia bailed after three.

I think Hasbro forced Paramount's hand. Hasbro wanted more TF, G.I. Joe flicks. As well as, Micronauts and Dungeons and Dragons. Paramount's current direction and Hasbro weren't vibing. I remember there being talk of a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover back in 2013, but Paramount put the kabosh on both that and a sequel to Retaliation. Hasbro is looking to maximize it's toy sales and brand. Hence the back to back to back relaunches of TF cartoons since the movies took off in 2007.

What this means for Star Trek, I can't say. I don't imagine it's good news. Losing TF and Star Trek underperforming/not making Star Wars numbers. The last money making IP for Paramount is Mission Impossible.

TF5 box office wasn't just a disappointment though. It made little over half of what the previous 2 made which must've been unthinkable for Paramount. Trek Beyonds disappointment is not on that scale
