I started this last summer. I've made a little progress since then.

This is a 3D computer model of the original AMT Enterprise kit. I am using @Shaw 's plans to try and recreate this so that I can use it as a basis for an "accurate" model of the U.S.S. Constellation from The Doomsday Machine.

I figure I'm well over 75% done, just getting to the details at this point. Then to texturing.

Nice! Are you purposefully modeling it to look like molded plastic? The shuttlebay details looks as such. Nice touch!

The materials are temp, but yeah I certainly don't mind that it looks like an unpainted kit.

My "plan" is to get a mesh that's pretty close to the model kit. Then I'll detail it to be like to "11 foot" version of the AMT kit. Hopefully extrapolating what it would be like to build the Constellation at the same scale as the Enterprise.

It looks quite plastic moddel-ish.

I started one like this but Shaw's plans weren't exact enough for me. So I decided to wait until I bought an actual model then I could measure it myself.

    Yours looks great!

That looks great! Are you going to have a 'functional' version and then a 'destroyed' version?

    But of course! :)

I've never done "damage" before, so this will be interesting. It's difficult to take a blow torch to a computer model.

If @Tallguy animates it, you just know they need to wobble. :D

Like the memory of the 70's version of the kit being blue?

Just about done with the nacelle. Except I'm probably going to re-do the geometry. I think. But it's progress.

Making progress! Soon on to texturing. (e.g. where most of my projects DIE!)

Tallguy you are pushing a soft spot of mine with this model. I like it!

    Thanks! That means a lot!

I just realized that I didn't model the three dimples on the underside of the saucer. Of course that's never seen on screen. I just like them!
