A significant change is being made in the character of Nico. All things considered, it's probably for the best...

In the comics, The Staff of One can only be summoned through blood. Therefore, in order to summon the Staff, Nico would have to cut herself. According the actress who plays Nico, blood will still be involved, but Nico won't have to cut herself for every confrontation.

Very cool. Definitely looking forward to this. Having read the first series, there are a lot of similarities, but at least one key difference. Knowing how the story goes, I think the difference makes quite a bit of sense.

I have no faith that ABC would make this a good product.

So the bit I like from the first comic book, is when two of the kids are talking about Prisoner DVDs... Now here's the unexpected problem with two normal kids talking about Prisoner DVDs in 2017... Why would Kids' jump on the DVD bandwagon at the very twilight of this format's relevance?

Not liking how small universe the pilot is.

I'm not getting a small universe thing here, but they've definitely made some significant changes.

The parents are given a lot more screen time in these first few episodes to look sympathetic and in conflict. They're also not nearly as "super" as their comic counterparts. That kind of undercuts the whole "our parents are supervillains" premise.

Overall one of the better Marvel TV efforts though. After binging the first three episodes I'd put this on par with the better Netflix series, and with a lot more characters and story to work with than those productions do.

They were best friends, until one of them died, who all go to school together. In the comics, they met once a year, whenever their parents sacrificed a virgin to the elder gods, which is what I meant by "small universe".

    Finished the first three.

    I see promise. :)

One episode in and this is already about a hundred times better than Inhumans. I don't even care that there's no direct ties to the rest of the MCU that I noticed. Even in the comics it was pretty much it's own thing, just with the odd brief cameo.

A few changes, but I think it's some necessary streamlining (honestly, I can't even remember's what the deal was with Molly's parents besides "they're mutants!") Speaking of, is Molly an Inhuman or some genetic experiment of her & Gurt's (adoptive?) parents? The way her powers are manifesting seems to imply the latter, given that they're bio-engineers.
That is unless she was literally just exposed to terragen in the food chain and blacked out on the husk...but then what happened to the husk?

Nico having a sister is a surprising new addition. Not sure where they're going with it yet but it at least makes her whole emo wiccan thing a little more understandable.

I'm not saying that she's a were wolf, but Molly's eyes, have the same, or similar SFX that the werewolves have (had) in Teen Wolf, so maybe I am?

Is this show set in the MCU? Are there continuity links/references? I'd expect it to be, since every other Marvel Studios production has been, but it hasn't been made clear yet as far as I know.

3 episodes in and no one has said the words: S.H.I.E.L.D., Avengers, X-Men, Hydra, Mutant, The battle of New York, The Event, Inhumans or Asgardian.

Well it's branded as "Marvel's Runaways" just like the Netflix shows, so it's a fair assumption that it's in the MCU. Like I said though, not direct, explicit links as of yet but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
