Think I'd give it a C. It definitely wasn't the awful mess the critics said... but it was still pretty generic and average for being the first onscreen teamup of these iconic characters. There were no real stakes, the score was as bland as can be, and it all just felt incredibly... uninspired. Say what you will about Snyder, but at least he brought a distinctive mood and style to MOS and BVS, which is something the current movie just has none of whatsoever.

The only thing that worked at all in this movie were the characters, but even their introductions and interactions never felt quite as thrilling as I would have hoped for. It was more their potential, and the promise of seeing them in better movies down the road, that I think I responded to more than anything else.

By far the best and coolest scene was when they team up to fight you know who when he comes back. That whole sequence was just really well executed and had so many badass moments in it, and it's a shame the rest of the movie wasn't at that level.

And of course the worst scenes... were all the ones featuring the horribly CGI'd face on Cavill. I mean my god was that distracting, so much so that it made it really hard to enjoy the Superman scenes as much as I wanted to.

Honestly even if they were to release an extended cut, I'm not sure I'd want to bother watching this again. I think instead I'd rather just look forward to the Flash and Aquaman movies and MOS and WW sequels.

My main take-away from this thread is that both fans and non-fans alike can't be bothered spelling Zack Snyder's name correctly. ;)

This was the song that was played in the background when Ben Affleck meets Ezra Miller for the first time in the Flash's home.

I would kill (ALL the WB executives ;)) for a proper Snyder's version of this film, but sadly I don't think it exists.

With BvS he made the movie, and then they had him shorten it for the theatrical cut. Here they started fiddling with it before he even started shooting it, and it's now obvious he had nothing to do with finishing the movie so he'd have to reconstruct the movie from the start for which I'm not sure enough footage exists, or if it does it probably doesn't have the finished CGI.

I really didn't believe WB would be this stupid, and I should really hope that the lesson not to interfere in an attempt to appeal to the lowest common denominator sticks this time with the WB heads, but unfortunately I think the lesson they will take from this will be "we need to be more generic!"

That's just what was in the trailers, and it's now pretty clear that the reshoots were extensive so those scenes must have replaced something too...

Speaking of the music choices for this film:

And while it was just for the credits, I'll take any opportunity to share Gary Clark Jr.

So it's been two days since I saw it. I knew the movie had problems with the directors. That ain't the movie's problem. The story felt short, as seems some things were cut. The movie was better many of the other DC movies (except WW - which was way better than this)

The biggest problem was Steppenwolf - he was so bland. I gave the movie B- (and that was being kind to the movie)

I love it. Didn't even notice funkyface Superman. Now that'll be all I'll see on a rewatch. Thanks, internet!

Definitely need an Ultimate Edition for this one with about 30 extra minutes added to the first hour.

How to make a bad superhero villain 101:

Villain that can pretty much freely appear and disappear takes the drama out of pretty much every fight.
Villain that just wants to destroy stuff because. . . it reminds him of home? Because he failed at it before? Basically no reasonable relatable motivation.
Villain that is entirely and obviously computer generated the entire film.
Villain who spends 90% of his screentime jumping and swinging an axe around.
Villain's only allies are identical, interchangeable, CGI drones that don't present a real threat to the heroes.

That Twitter feed is depressing. Now I too feel “I WAS ROBBED”.

And so, another prime example of what happens when we “listen to the (unhappy) fans”—you disappoint those who did enjoy what came earlier AND still fail to satisfy “the fans”. Better to stick to your guns...not like it would have failed to make money anyway if Snyder had been left alone.

Not much hope for a different cut, then. Ah well.

He wasn't dead in the first place, just in some coma state. The end of BvS shows us that.

I mean, he came back from his comic death with a Mullet for a while...

Despite SAW JL's Twitter handle, I don't think they actually did see the movie, because at least half of what they're whining about are individual screenshots from parts of the movie that weren't actually cut, and the things that they're whining about that were actually cut were, as I noted, either redundant or unnecessary.

That entire Twitter thread is just an excuse for the uneducated to complain about how Warner Bros. 'butchered' Zack Snyder's movie and cut it down in a way that is 'at odds' with what he would've wanted, which is just not how reality works.

I enjoyed the movie but I did find it a little too loud in places.
Though you would think Bruce would help Barry get his dad release.

    Oh my, no.

I posted elsewhere that this film was 30 minutes shorter than BvS TR and felt longer than the DC.

    Hugo - mostly bored

Aside from giving Barry money to hire lawyers and investigators to find evidence of Henry's innocence, I'm not sure what you think Bruce could do to help.

Well gee thanks for makin' presumptions on my educations, but I done finished all them schoolings just good :p

Also, I don't think one needs a PhD to see that this is not what Zack Snyder would have wanted.
All you need to do to figure that out is watch one Zack Snyder movie.

^ I meant "uneducated" in that they seem unaware of the fact that Warner Bros. cannot actually legally have created a version of Justice League that is at odds with what Snyder wanted the film to be even thpugh circumstances prevented him from overseeing the final stages of its post-production.
