Sorta the Broncos' own fault. They went all-in for a window while they had Manning, knowing they'd pay later. Plus side, at least they got to cash out one ring out of it. Now they're on the hook for the back end of that deal, so are going to struggle somewhat until they clear some of those deals and can get younger again.

Pats looked decent in the superbowl 'rematch'. Defense played pretty well, Offense was good, Special Teams got in on the action, overall satisfying win. Falcons offense looks like it's in trouble...

Yep, agreed about the Broncos. They're going to need to look hard at rebuilding some things in the off-season.

The Falcons certainly sucked hind tit on that one, damn their eyes! One would think they would have some more fire under their belly with such an opportunity for redemption. I guess one would be wrong...

Hightower out for the year with torn pec. Great, was thinking the defense was too good, so this should help with that... *sigh*

Deshaun Watson broke Kurt Warner's record for touchdowns in first 7 career games. Houston have got themselves a legit QB.

Yeah, but their defense sucked ass at the end and let Seattle win the game with 21 seconds left.

I was really hoping for a Seattle loss there.

That was one heck of a game!
For what it's worth, Digits, there was a little girl named Ellie in the stands yesterday who's spent most of her life in Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. A few weeks ago, she lost a very special Richard Sherman doll. One of the hospital staff found a way to contact Richard Sherman himself. He made sure that she got a new doll and got to go to the game. She was grinning from ear to ear seeing "the real Shermie" help his team win.
But the Texans have nothing to be ashamed of. They gave us one heck of a fight! It was glorious!

^ I saw the story about that Richard Sherman thing.

    Very nice.

Well I think my Skins are done for the season. Too many injuries. They had second- and third-stringers as starters and a bunch of them got messed up yesterday too. The remaining games of the regular season are against some really good, tough teams. I think it's time to just dream about some early draft picks for 2018.

My second team, Broncos, are in for a bad time with division rival Chiefs tonight. After the shut-out shellacking they took last week from the Chargers, I honestly believe they don't stand a chance. I'm debating whether or not I should even watch.

^ The Broncos are my second team, too. They're behind by 10 in the 4th quarter but they're really putting up a fight.

^Yeah - five turnovers - :ack:. On the Denver Post's live blog a pissed off fan wrote, "For Halloween the Broncos are going dressed up as a football team."

At least my Saints are still on top of the NFC South.

Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers for a 2018 2nd round draft pick.

Never boring watching Bill work! Pretty shocked by this one, figured since they didn't trade him before the draft (rumored #12 overall and maybe a 3rd on the table), they were going to sign him or franchise him going forward. Guess they tried signing him as long as they could, and he wouldn't bite. So decided to cash him in for what they could get, which will end up being around #34-ish overall next year.

I guess Hoyer is coming back, although not part of the deal so they can sign him for minimum instead of keeping current deal, so there's a backup in place.

It's tough, as Brady isn't slowing down, but it's gotta happen eventually. Guess they draft another QB high this year, and we play the game again...

Pretty ballsy move to dump Brady's back up. As you say, he's okay now, but he's getting to be one of the NFL's "grand old men". One bad shot on him from a 350lb linebacker butt-steak and >poof< 'tis done.

And it seems like a sensible move on the 49ers' part; they'll almost certainly franchise Garoppolo, which means they get essentially a year and a half to see if he's legit, or if he's Brock Osweiler.

^true, but true of anyone playing in the NFL. Everyone is one hit from being done. He's old enough that he won't come back from a bad injury like a 25 year old would, but it's the same risk throughout. Hell, Jimmy G already missed a bunch of time when he got crunched in his second ever game.

But yeah, Brady's not getting younger. I'd hoped for a peaceful transition; franchise Jimmy, Brady retires after next season, go from there. But if Brady stays at the level he's at, and can keep playing, why stop the train? The fire is still there, the skill hasn't dropped off, and he keeps himself motivated and in shape. If he says he's got 5 more years in the tank, then baring injury, why not try it I guess? Could even lose his edge, and 65% of Brady is still top 5-10 in the league for QBs. Next QB Belichick drafts will be interesting, as pretty good chance that that one will be the post-Brady guy. Thought it was Jimmy, but Brady just won't age...

Decent move from the 49ers, and without a huge draft cost. They get the test drive before committing, and can even do some sort of year-to-year deal upfront so they get a few years without too much risk before really buying in with guaranteed money. Limited sample, but seems like the kid can play, so maybe...

Brutal, Watson went down in practice today with non contact knee injury. Feared to have torn acl. Rough break for the kid, and Houston in general. Fortunately with MLB, Houston probably too hung over today for this to hit just yet...

Yep. Lots of teams have been eviscerated by injuries this season. Don't know what's going on but it's definitely getting worse. The result of more hidden bounties, maybe? Absolutely horrible. :(

Could they be making the muscles in the leg so strong that they cause more of this type of injury to the ligaments?

I mean, there have always been freak injuries. I remember Terry Obee blowing both knees out when his toes got caught in one of the turf seams at old Vetrans Stadium as he went up for a catch.
