Kal was a baby and most likely asleep or in suspended animation during his trip to Earth. Kara was a pre teen and was awake during her launch. Much more traumatic experience for her, witnessing the death of her world...

The point was that phobias can start in the early years, such as a fear of insects, fire, tight spaces or the dark; in other words, one does not need to be older for a traumatic experience to create a certain kind of fear. Kal-El never developed that.

Leaving an elevator with a hole in it is one of the most sloppy things they've done on the series so far. :(

Agreed. How is anyone going to explain that kind of damage? Unless Lena is just keeping her mouth shut while building a case/plan against SG, there's no way she would not be aware of the damage, and demanded answers from anyone. How would James explain that away?

Sloppy writing just to give SG her version of Superman breaking through the ceiling of Luthor's lair in Superman the Movie.

He didn't witness his homeworld destroyed, got knocked about by some rocks while being in a tiny coffin in outer space and then got lost for a few decades.

Uhmm, that did not look like "suspicion" to me...

Yeah, her mother. They literally had a conversation about it.

Many people also own Supergirl shirts.

Anyway, so metahumans are a thing on Earth-38 now too.

Was expecting they'd put Samantha at CatCo as well to revitalize it as a location that's relevant every week, but I guess they aren't ready to get rid of Lena's office set even if Lena herself is not that keen on offices anymore ;)

For some reason I just found it hilarious that a year later people are still afraid to use Cat's elevator, and I loved that Eve is the first one to use it :D

Overall, it was a really good episode, Psi was kind of a weak villain, but it doesn't matter because she served the purpose of bringing Kara's inner conflict to the surface. The first person look at destruction of Krypton was impactful, and I really enjoyed the character scenes, particularly the Kara/Winn and Alex/Kara scenes.

I like that they're taking their time and starting with more intimate stories this season.

That said, bring on the Martians! :techman:

Looking at what was being eaten by Samantha and Ruby, so is Kraft Dinner :)

Think something bad is in the future for Ruby given that she seems to be the trigger for her mother's abilities

They have been since season 1. Livewire and Silver Banshee are both considered metahumans. And the power-suppressing headset that was used on Psi after her capture was probably based on the containment technology the Flash gave to the NCPD when he crossed over.

Well yeah, but Livewire got her powers through Supergirl and Silver Banshee was cursed(so basically magic).

This is the first metahuman we've seen on the show of unknown origin, yet J'onn talks about recognizing the metahuman psychic signature and they mention a metahuman database... the implication at Barry's first visit was they then didn't know what metahumans were, or at least didn't run into them often and had no way for the legal system to deal with them, so some things must have changed off screen over the last year.

Yeah, and most Earth-1 metas got their powers from the STAR Labs accelerator explosion. The term refers to any human with superpowers of any origin, as opposed to aliens or people with tech-based powers. (Before DC adopted it, the term was coined for George R.R. Martin's Wild Cards universe, in which the metahumans were empowered by a psionic alien virus that rewrote their DNA.) It's just that metahumans are less common on Earth-38 because it didn't have a STAR Labs or an Eobard Thawne/"Harrison Wells."

I checked a transcript. When Supergirl brought the Flash into DEO HQ, Lucy Lane (who was then in charge) asked if he was an alien. Kara said "Metahuman," and Lucy immediately understood what that meant. So the term was known in that world, it just hadn't come up before.

Again, phobias can begin even in infant stage.

What are you suggesting--attraction? If so, that would be in direct opposition to his stated beliefs. He only holds her in contempt. Remember, she's a Luthor, and James has made more than a few statements about his (and Superman's) dealings with that family dating back to his Metropolis days.

It seems there are more issues than that for her buying so heavily into the super power issue.

Hers is a distinctive, easily recognizable costume made from material you will not see hanging on the racks at Wal-Mart or Target. Moreover, rule #1 for superheroes still maintaining a secret identity is to never be seen wearing anything that might tip off the wrong person who might be looking your way, or in this current, surveillance camera-happy society, never undress in a corporate building.

Hum.... after watching this episode i'd say this really was a job for Martian Manhunter but he had to take a dive again. What is the point of having this character in the show ? Hank could still the voice of wisdom without being or having MMH be the shows resident punching bag.

    A thought on the Lena/Kara friendship/working relationship.

Now Lena is working at CatCo, I'm wondering how long before she find out who Kara Danvers really is.

James can only cover for her frequent disappearances for so long and new boss has already read the riot act

Well, they're going to Mars next week. That might help answer your question.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
Why is Lena asking a reporter to do clerical work?

    It's inefficient.

Again, even ignoring he's an infant, none of those things actually happened to him.
His ship warped before the planet blew up, it wasn't hit by debris and it didn't get stuck in the phantom zone.

Warring families, people who irritate each other, no romance has ever started out that way... :p

In today's world there's no way any superhero could realistically conceal their identity.

When she notices the elevator has been turned into a convertible? ;)

I just can't get over the plot induced angst....

The POD had an AIR FILTRATION system that lets him LIVE IN OUTER SPACE.

They could have put that pod anywhere. They could have then built a clean room with air filtration and what not to completely protect Mon El. Then they could have built him a suit that allows him to breath on Earth.

This entire storyline is plot induced stupidity and I can't buy it for a second.

Perhaps Kara will blame it on climate change. After all, Lena is smarter than an eight year-old, she'll have to believe her. ;)
