Just was thinking about how I would rank the pilots. I think this is how I'd rank them.

DS9 is my favorite series btw, but I was 10 years old, and it put me off the show until I got back into it towards the end of season 2.

    1. The Cage

    3. Caretaker
    4. Where No Man Has Gone Before
    5. Broken Bow

    7. Emissary

Took me quite awhile to figure out how you'd set this poll up. For me this is a hard question to answer because it feels much more like a prologue than a pilot. It's certainly far better than Encounter at Farpoint. :p

    1. Where No Man Has Gone Before (TOS - Kirk)
    2. Caretaker (VOY)
    3. The Vuclan Hello/Battle at the Binary Stars (DSC)
    4. Broken Bow (ENT)

    6. The Cage (TOS - Pike)
    7. Beyond the Farthest Star (TAS)
    8. Encounter at Farpoint (TNG)

Its interesting, while in my opinion, Voyager had a great pilot and a terrible series, DS9 had a not-so-great pilot and an amazing series.

    4) VOY
    5) TOS (The Cage)
    6) DS9
    7) TNG

That's subject to a re-watch of DIS; it may be that things grate on me a bit more on a second viewing, but I can't see it dropping below #3.

It was a bit odd as a pilot in that we didn't meet most of the regulars or even have the titular ship mentioned, but it made a great impression and set up a compelling arc.

I haven't watch DS9 or VOY yet so for the ones I've seen I'd go:
    #1 DSC
    #2 ENT
    #3 TOS (WNMHGB)
    #4 TOS (Cage)
    #5 TNG

I have to say some of the other pilots (TNG, DS9 and VOY) introduced FAR more interesting, charming and intriguing characters to get me invested.

I find Burham very unlikeable, and the other characters introduced in the STD two parter seem very hollow.

I'd rank STD rather low compared to the other pilots. I can look past the modern expensive CGI and spectacle.

Emissary is a masterclass. Caretaker is an amazing start to a medicore series that never reached the potential set up in the pilot.

I made my list based on thinking if I could watch these episodes right now, which one would I want to watch the most.

With Discovery, it was hard to care about any of the characters in the pilot.

In overall quality and success in introducing the series I feel DS9s "Emissary" was the hands down best.
I put "Encounter At Farpoint" second. It wasn't great but it gets kudos for doing a workmen like job of introducing the first modern Star Trek tv series.

So I'll give Discovery third place overall.

I was thoroughly entertained but more importantly I did like the characters we met.
