Why does Midnight's Edge have such a hate boner for Discovery?

That’s a great thought but even people won’t believe that. I have very hefty security settings on my Facebook account and despite the fact that my profile picture has always been of me, whenever I’ve gotten involved in conversations with people who I’m not friends with (or aren’t friends of friends), I always get told I’m a fake account. Why the high security settings? Because I’m just as guilty of being untrustworthy of people. *shrugs* It’s a real issue.

In theory, I agree with you. It’s just that people are so generally untrusting of those they encounter. We need to somehow solve that problem first. And that’s gonna be a hard pill for people to swallow.

I agree also I am someone who thinks it's important to ask people why the think things they think instead of making a guess and when people say something have a little faith that they aren't lying. It doesn't help that I think the internet can create a almost mob mentality. You see 2 people fighting and it encourages others to join into something that has nothing to do with them. It doesn't help either that I think people have problems sometimes articulating what they are thinking because I know I do which combined with what you said about how we all are seen as words and avators can create conflicts.

Maybe the best way to deal with it is to have faith that some people are convinced by what you say. Some might not believe but the internet is a big place which means that many will and do believe. I wonder if the number of people on the internet is what helps make things feel so defeating at times. 4 people saying mean things can feel like 400 even if it was just 4.

I think as long as we can have peaceful debates where people don’t get offended when asked to provide evidence where they get their assertions from, that’s a good start. Citations go a lot farther than saying “my sources say.” If you’re a legit news site, that’s one thing. If you’re a random internet avatar, that’s something different.

To bring it back to the OP, that’s why Midnight’s Edge is problematic. You can’t rely on one instance of being correct in order to suggest you’re an insider. You need to cultivate your news and choose the stories you break, not report on everything in such a tabloid fashion. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Given how high expectations are for a new Trek show, if it seems like it's going off the rails before it even airs, some protective superfans will develop a lynch mob mentality on the basis of the property being mishandled. You know, People vs. George Lucas type stuff. Unfortunately, mediocrity in Hollywood happens. It can even come from the original creator. It's a loss of innocense to just not get your hopes up so high anymore.

If someone starts saying that Discovery raped their childhood, I may lose it. Just sayin’.

I always saw that phrase along the lines of saying something like "I could kill him" or the sister phrase "I could kill myself" or "I am so hungry I could eat a horse." It always seemed more like a expression of disapointment more than a acurate representation of how they now feel about their childhood.

It’s hyperbolic nonsense. You don’t joke about rape. You just don’t. Find a better phrase.

We're all laughing at you guys on the midnights edge facebook group btw.

It's just a youtube channel, don't watch it if you don't like it. They make it very clear in their videos that a lot of the stuff is rumors, but honestly being a midnight edge fan since before Ghostbusters, a lot of the stuff that they report on ends up being true. There are some very real concerns that many of us have with Star Trek Discovery, we only have these concerns because we love the Star Trek franchise so much.

A lot of other Star Trek fans feel just the same, they're worried. There are plenty of good reasons to be worried when you look at the production, the klingons, what the actors are saying (specifically Jason Issacs), the uniforms, the ship, and the distribution method that CBS is using.

I'm going to watch the show hoping it's good, but I honestly won't be surprised if it isn't. Midnight Edge wouldn't be making all of these videos if some of the actors kept their mouth shut about trekkies and just said, "Watch and judge for yourself."

Enjoy your shillfest and circlejerking. I've got other shit to do today because i'm not a loser like most of you.

Just don't be too butthurt when Midnight's Edge is right again. If they are, you can guarantee that i'm going to rub it in all of your smug faces.

So, let’s look at the ways you’ve already endeared yourself to us. Telling us that you’re laughing at us and that we’re shills? Not exactly the best way to start.

If it's no good, I've got Better Call Saul, The Americans, The Walking Dead, and a few other shows that will fill my entertainment needs after translating 3-4 thousand words a day.

But I'm like a 12 year old boy right now anticipating tomorrow night...!

Obviously our speaking of you bothers you. I do not care. If you had any real guts you would post under your own name and profile(Fred). I have never watched one of your videos and most likely never will,,,,,,,,,,so you go back over to the comment section of the YouTube channel and have fun. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I'm cashing my CBS check this afternoon. #shillcash
