My Rams had their chances, but then Goff shit the bed at the end. Young gun has to learn.

On to the 49ers on Thursday night, with their 6 points a game. Hopefully our run defense plays better than they did today.

And yes, the Bears are really bad.

How about the Broncos laying it on the Cowboys? Geez....

Well, it looks like rumors of Brady's demise were proven dumb, again. I mean, didn't score a ton in the second half, but the 30 in the first half made it not really matter a ton. On the downside, injury plague continues. Gronk went out with what was hopefully a groin issue and not his back again, two more WRs hurt (Dorsett and Hogan this time), Burkhead out with rib issue, one of the CBs hurt, really getting tough to field a team. Not sure where the WRs are going to come from, it's literally Cooks and no one else at the moment, and Cooks hasn't totally gotten in sync with Brady yet. Gonna see a lot of RBs and TE's catching passes for a while, I guess...

To be consistent, I'm sure gblews was about to pounce on you for this, because he said it's definitely not an anti-Patriot thing or personal against me. ;) I'm sure you meant that the Redskins had a really good game, outplayed you and were the better team this weekend, right? Can't be talking negative about your team, gotta keep quiet and just praise the other team, of course.

Same with the Bears, they aren't bad, the Bucs were just really good. Well, maybe that one is ok, the Bears are terrible. Thank God they got rid of Cutler, because he was obviously the problem, right? :guffaw:

Can't have anyone analyzing their own team, or implying that a loss was anything other than the superior performance of their opponents. If you say the Redskins were really good on Sunday for 2-3 times, he'll probably forgive you... :p

Broncos crushed the Cowboys, didn't see that one coming. maybe the delay caused issues, or Dak getting rolled over on, or what, but Denver took it to them for sure. Not sure what Elliot's issue was, but when Brady has more rushing yards than you, you had a bad game ;)

Also, the bar is low sometimes, but thought Tony Romo had a good game broadcasting on Sunday. Seems like a pretty good fit, and felt comfortable in the job already. Good insight, predicting things, telling us kinda what the teams were thinking, or highlighting things that were being done well/poorly that aren't immediately visible in a play, etc. I liked him.

Coming off a big road win to their home opener against a team over which they were big favorites, made Sunday's game against the Jets a trap game. Glad to see the Raiders didn't allow themselves to become victims.

Defense, still a problem but it was good to see our first round pick, corner Garreon Conley, in the game and making a couple of plays. Hopefully, he will win a starting job beoe season's end.

Biggest story after the game, at least the story getting the most overage, is Beast Mode's sideline dancing.

Not sure if I like the new celebration rules or not. Yes, lets them have more fun. No, lets them highlight what big douchebags they can be, especially when they are doing it when they're down big or scored in garbage time, etc. Plus too many of them were obviously worked on ahead of time, time some of them probably should have spent working on the playbook instead. Meh.

Doing well in the survivor league, 2-0 by just picking the Jets to lose. Seems like a pretty solid strategy, haven't seen anything to scare me off of that yet

How do you give up 39 to the Niners?

I think you're focusing on the wrong thing!

Injuries played some role, I think. They had guys making plays at the end of the game I'd never heard of.

The Rams committed a LOT of stupid penalties that kept drives alive (At least three times we had them at 4th down, but a penalty gave them a 1st). We got a couple of bad calls, like the roughing the passer against Donald. And Austin muffing the punt at our own 10 yard line.... :brickwall:

Hyde is a good RB and Garcon had a great game. The whole thing was crazy and fun (and stressful).

Ultimately, record doesn't matter. Circumstances don't matter. There is nothing I enjoy more in the football universe than the Rams beating the 49ers. However it happens, I'll take it.

It was a good game but how do we have only one angl on the OPI call. Kind of a huge call in crunch and time. It’s not the only reason the Niners lost but it took the air out of a really entertaining Thursday night game.

Every time I see the Niners in their black alt uniforms I get irritated. Niners' original colors don't have a hint of black, while the Raiders could practically take out a trademark on the color, yet the Raiders are stuck wearing white as an alt uni.

Firing Jeff Fisher was a godsend for the Rams. The team may not be a real contender yet but they are solidly on the path to respectability.. They're way better this season.

But they should burn the yellow uni's. Worst thing about them, other than giving fans CTE, is that they force the team to also wear the old yellow trim helmets. :)

I agree about Fisher. He had a long time to get things right, and the Rams never improved.

I also agree about the black uniforms. They look terrible.

I do not agree about the Color Rush uniforms. I like them. I'm glad the Rams are using the white horns at home this year. But ultimately, it's all just waiting until they can go back to the glorious blue and yellow beauties.

Well, as losses go it wasn't the absolute worst for the Raiders. The Washingtons are a pretty good team. But I still expected a win. But we just got worked over on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The Raiders' D always seems just on the verge of giving up record breaking amounts of yardage, but the offense is usually on it and usually carries us.

Not Sunday. Carr threw a pick! That almost never happens. Our offensive front was getting beat all night. I expect the offense to be fine, but our defense is subject to exploitation by any decent to good offense. Gotta get rid of Ken Norton.

The Chiefs have been in situations like the Raiders were Sunday, twice this season. In both instances the Chiefs won. At this point, they have to be considered as much further along the Super Bow path than the Raiders. Only good thing I can say is, it's only September.

Well, if Sunday's game was Brady on his decline, guess we can retire the question of where he is in the QB rankings. Hell of a comeback, guy is ice cold in the big moments. Looks like Cooks is starting to develop some chemistry as well. Plus it's always hilarious to me when Hogan gets one of those wide open shots, seems there's so many times where he's the only guy in the frame, happens a ton. He's not super quick, it's like he's friggin' invisible or something, or teams just ignore him...

Texans' QB continues to look impressive though, they definitely might have something there.

Well, at least Dallas had a spark in the second half last night, but their defense needs some serious serious help.

On another note, I'm loving Tony Romo in the booth.. He brings a fresh take on the game that tjhe tried and true, dyed in the wool broadcasters have lost over the years... Love how he was dissecting Andy Dalton's playing (or lack thereof)...

he's really pretty decent in the booth. Maybe we're used to some bad teams, but he's refreshing either way

He's replacing Phil Simms, how high is the bar, really?

I finally made a full-stop, this-is-over decision on watching football (I just can't watch bloodsport anymore, not with knowing all the damage it causes--fuck's sake, Aaron Hernandez's brain study was depressing), but I have to imagine that pretty much anything would be better than WELL JEEEEM.

Romo gets a little shouty sometimes, though I chalk that up to a mix of inexperience and excitement, but his football insight is light years beyond Simms'.
