I am overjoyed - Richmond will be in a Grand Final for the first time in 35 years. I was 24 years old when they played in the 1982 Grand Final and 22 years when they last won one.

With the NRL grand final this time next week, I'll probably support the Cowboys, as I hate the Storm. But happy that my Eels are playing in under 20s grand final on that day. Not sure if I'll watch the GF - might play STO instead.

New Trek, so I'm back. Given no one in my life loves trek, I will probably stay around a while.

    Hope everyone is well.

    ^ Good to hear.

I watched it last night on my laptop, as I'm not in Melbourne at the moment (visiting family). Gonna watch it again later in the week, plus maybe the after hours show too.

I thought it was off to a strong beginning and I will rewatch it later in the week also.

I have been laughing at all the anti-feminists and anti-SJWs complaining about it on YouTube.

Over the years I started to understand that if something is instantly hated by these types of folks, it's probably because this something in question is actually good. I imagine they are doing a lot of salty misogynistic rants about Discovery right now and that's a very good sign for the show. Let's just hope DSC offends their reactionary sensitivities even more!

DSC was ok. I think it has the potential to be quite good, but (as usual with first eps of any Trek series) they weren't great. Some good, some bad.

I saw something from breibart or whatever that stupid is come up on my feed from SFI group. There is a big divide between Star Trek fans today. Some thing it will be cancelled. And I don't think that will happen, as will continue to make money for CBS.

I don't know if I feel strongly enough to be an anti-feminist / anti-sjw but I'm probably the closest this thread has to one.

I loved it. I will very happily keep watching. I think those who went in already decided to hate it do. Nothing we can do about them except ignore them.

I realized just now that I randomly wandered into the Australian thread. Sorry folks. :guffaw:

Oh well, since I'm here, let me ask y'all something. I always see those imported Australian Beers in our shops, what brands are good and what brands are a no-no ?

Cheers from the other side of the planet. ;)

(And let's all thank God for Netflix and pray CBS will never make plans for moving All Access into our countries :ack:)

    Not Fosters. Never Fosters.

Aside from that... I'm partial to most beers by James Boag, James Squire, Crown Lager, and Hahn.

Thanks! :techman: I think I saw some bottles of James Squire here somewhere. I will definitely keep an eye for the others you mentioned, though.

Give an Australian a choice between warm camel piss and fosters, its 50/50 which they'll take and even the only if they dying of thirst.

Not sure about that, but depends on how long the contract with netflix is. And when CBSAA comes here. I'd probably get it just for discovery. Got all trek on DVD and/or blu-ray at home.

^^Does CBS own all of Star Trek? Did they buy Paramount? I hope not. I have voyager on DVD but putting on Netflix is so much easier.

Given it is billed as "Netflix Original" I would think they have rights. They haven't just purchased the right to stream it as they have other shows, they've got a deal to help fund production. That's different. At least I hope so.

^ They own all of the TV series. The movies are still owned by Paramount. I still have everything on DVD and/or blu ray.

Found this earlier in the discovery forum. Tried to look on twitter (found nothing). Yet to find anything on FB either.
