Well, there is the discussion board on the Orville Wiki, but it's almost empty.

Looking at what else Fox has on offer and their weekly ratings, this show probably would have to crash hard in order not to be renewed.

    That's entirely possible, of course.

The fact that it's co-produced by Twentieth Century Fox for the Fox network probably gives it a bit of help as well.

I love that the "Moon shot" has a central place in the opening credit sequence. I adore that shot and everything it represents.

I also like the fact the Orville being an unexceptional, "mid-level explore" doesn't signify the intent to portray it as a trouble-prone rust bucket that's over-matched in every situation. That would be a bit rote.

Oh, and the cloaked "sneak" to Calivon and slipping past their patrol ships was about as exciting and tense as anything Trek's done with the starship stuff on TV since...god, I have no recollection at this point.

I think you'd find that in an episode of The Orville, rather than all the dire things you predict, hilarity would ensue! It's just not that type of show. Time travel lends itself to comedy I think.

Hmmm. Maybe a show has already done that? ;)

Why are you bringing facts into this? Don't you know it's bad form?

A time travel episode of The Orville could be amazing! It would show a great contrast with Mercer. While he's new and still unfamiliar to command, he would be right at home in a past time, while everyone else would be new and unfamiliar to everything!

I think in general The Orville could have a lot of fun with all sorts of weird anomalies, time travel and otherwise. Weird shit can produce a lot of humor! Honestly, I hope they do that more than comedic takes on social issues (like the gender thing they seem to be leading up to).

Or, ha, imagine if they fused a man and woman together, you get both! I think this plot is almost guaranteed on The Orville. Imagine all the bathroom jokes!

In that form of storytelling, you're passing along a message as well as an adventure to the audience. TOS did that in a great way, as well. I was learning about all sorts of things when I was watching the reruns, not knowing because it wasn't hitting you over the head or preaching it directly. You got it through the journey and the adventure.
