ok.. I'm just going to have to go back and watch the last couple episodes from last season.. I'm not getting why Tom left and I'm REALLY not getting why so many people are acting weirdly around him.. I get that some of the crew felt he abandoned them... But for God's sake.. The man deserved a break! Yes.. He had seen a lot of death and destruction and lost friends and family... That is enough to make anyone want to just go away... But they are making it seem like something really really bad happened... Maybe I'm just not remembering everything right...

Chandler's reasons for leaving was basically because he felt he had betrayed his values by killing an unarmed prisoner. Granted this unarmed prisoner was an evil bitch who had launched a coup to take over what's left of the US government, assassinated the President, kidnapped Chandler's children, murdered his father and was a generally unpleasant person anyway.

As for the crew's reactions, it's a military thing. The world is once again in a state of crisis, and rather than rejoining them and doing his part he's joined a fight club. I'll agree with most of the crew, their attitude towards him is kind of strange, the only ones who have legitimate reasons to act the way they did around him are XO Meylan and Tex's daughter.

I have been enjoying The Last Ship as a sort of "early 21st century Star Trek" series. Helicopters and RIBs instead of transporters and shuttles.

But then I prefer to imagine that Fox's canceled-before-its-time Almost Human is part of the Blade Runner universe too. ;)

There are a number of scenes with street noodle bars and music and atmosphere that seems to call back to Blade Runner.

I guess there's stuff they have to do to keep the story going but man was I ever screaming at my TV on this one, :brickwall::censored:

I agree - the 'evil agent escapes with this Season's McGuffin and the James and Crew must hunt for and retrieve it.' trope is getting overused on this series.

Just once I'd like to see them properly secure said McGuffin, or at least have Marines that actually LOOK at the surroundings when there's an agent they want to capture/detain. ;)

I was amazed at the brutality displayed by the British agents.. Yes.. They are desperate, but with Fletcher, he has lived and served with these men and women for quite a while now, and to just kill them outright seemed awfully cold.. Hell, even James Bond would have just incapacitated them rather than sliced and diced...

I have an idea that Fletcher is going to come around and help take out the big bad before he himself dies semi-heroically... There's no way he makes it out of the season alive after what he has done.

I thought that was a lot of killing for their agenda. And he jumps off the ship in that storm and survives the swim. ok....

Well, they weren't too far off the coast and so I'm sure it wasn't too deep.. Q probably stashed some scuba gear nearby and he used a re-breather while he hunted around for it while dodging Largo's spear wielding henchmen. Oh.. Wait...

Well, they did lampshade Fletcher's unlikely survival there in the last scene.

I didn't expect the agent of chaos Omar to reappear already

    And then promptly get dispatched.

There's a lot of plot to go through this season, but they're blowing through it like they don't have much plot to work with, if that makes any sense. Maybe it's the 3 less episodes. Also, they should've done a much better job setting this season up instead of it just happening after a time jump.

I expected him to get dispatched maybe after an episode ending cliffhanger but that wild card was pulled early for nothing. The Greek security force reacting to finding a dead comrade could have provided the same firefight and diversion for another escape

IIRC when the renewal for season 4 and 5 was announced, they stated at that time the show would be ending. I remember thinking to my self that they has 20 episodes to wrap it up or something like that...

I'm not surprised. If the fifth season proves there is still an audience for a sixth they will probably try to push for it even though I am assuming season 5 will be meant to wrap up the story. So they will have to create a new crisis that propels the story onward.

I think that ship has sailed. His injury/sickness almost cost them the mission when he went down.. Now that they are having to carry him off, he won't be able to avoid being checked out by the Doc.
