Startrek.com has released some new information on the next Titan novel, Fortune of War, and it sounds like a doozy:

They're going to pick up a long-dangling storyline--whatever happened to the technology left behind by the extermination of the Husnock? http://www.startrek.com/article/first-look-titan-fortune-of-war

I can't wait for this book--although that looks like an Akira-class on the cover and not the starship Titan (unless that's an indication that another ship will be involved in the book).

I think thats just a view of Titan we don't usually see. I really like it.

No, that definatly an Akira class..... Happened before though, might be a place holder. We once got a first look of the cover for a Titan novel with a Sovereign on it. :D

I really like the cover art of this a book, I've been looking forward to getting and find out what's been happening to the Titan crew with Husnuk storyline from the TNG episode the Survivors will be a intriguing. story.

After I posted it, I started thinking that could be the case. Still not sure if it is an Akira class or a different view of Titan. Ah well, probably just a place holder.

Even though at this point, it is blatantly the wrong class of ship on the cover.

Yeah, definitely an Akira class on the cover--this is what Titan looks like from a similar angle.

Hmm, that is odd. I would assume they wouldn't post something like this on StarTrek.com unless it was the final cover. Hopefully there's a story reason for the Akira if this is the final cover.

Coolcool. Ofcourse it could have been that an Akira class featured heavily in this, but even then I would've thought that Titan would still get a more prominent place on the cover.

I'd rather we go back to the 'character faces' covers of the first handful of Titan books, honestly. I realise it was quite a coup - not to mention a substantial promotional layout - to get a ship designed exclusively for the books, and they probably want to make the most of it. But this will make the fifth book in the series - and indeed fourth in a row - with the ship on the cover, and there are still plenty of the crew who we never got a good look at.

Seems like startrek.com has pulled the article from the site for the time being.

At the time of this posting it doesn't appear on the the start site anymore and when you go to the direct link you're redirected to the start site.

Based on this and @David Mack's earlier remarks, assuming they're about to post a new cover image.

Well, to be fair, the cover is by design the first thing you see of the book. If it leaves you with the impression that people haven't been paying attention, that bad first impression is going to carry over and taint your experience of reading the actual story as well. That's just human nature, logical understanding of the situation be damned.

^Also, we've had the blurb for a while now - the cover is the only new element to discuss.

Even that angle doesn't look right. The port nacelle doesn't appear to be symmetrical with the starboard nacelle. The struts look completely different. I'd like to see that angle using an actual model.

Titan covers have been travesties anyway ever since they got rid of the matte finish. Also they changed the SPINE DESIGN!!!

That is an actual model. It's just perspective. Look at the struts on the movie-era Enterprise. From a 3/4th view, one seems to go straight up, and the other seems raked back.
