Along the same lines, Stephen King sued to have his name taken off THE LAWNMOWER MAN, since the movie bore no resemblance to his story of the same name.

Two upcoming novel adaptations that Im looking forward to immensely are Disney's A Wrinkle in Time and Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines. Neither novel (series) is technically Fantasy, but AWiT looks really good and Jackson and his team are 6-for-6 when it comes to book-to-film adaptations.

Yeah, A Wrinkle in Time looks good, and it's got one hell of a cast.

They're TV series rather than movies, but I was just wondering, has anybody heard any news about the TV series adaptations of Throne of Glass, Wheel of Time, or Discworld: City Watch? All three were announced quite a while ago, but I haven't heard anything about any of them since the original announcements.
