in literature you can do more crossover stuff than tv as budgets are less limiting, we never had a fulllon Trek crossover on screen but we've had the TNG/DS9 crossover in comics, and it felt like reading an episode! Telepathy War went further and brought the other shows into the mix. Destiny is also very popular as we're some of Shatner's books, but what do you think we're the best crossover stories?
Shatner's Mirror Universe Trilogy. You had TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager elements all in one (it was the Voyager elements that original made me by the paperback edition as I wanted to see how Voyager made it home!) It was something that I wish they had done on the TV series as DS9 and Voyager were both running at the same time!
"Best lit crossovers?" Well, I'd assume those would be the ones read outside on a sunny day. Or indoors under a really good reading lamp.
i loved SPECTRE but wasn''t keen on the other two. Also loved The Ashes of Eden GN (not a crossover but felt like reading a lost movie), The Return and Captain's Glory, the final one. It did feel slightly bizzare having Kirk active in the 24th Century, being briefed by Admiral Janeway and all but that's absolutely why I loved it
My own favorite crossover would still have to be Barbara Hambly's Ishmael. Sure, it's a silly idea, "Star Trek meets Here Come the Brides," but it's fun precisely because it's such a silly premise.
Federation is one of my favorite Trek Novels ever. It has ended up being contradicted by newer on screen stories but it is still a great story in its own right.
Definitely Destiny for me. It was a huge epic event that did a great job bringing all of the active casts together, and even managed to tie in Enterprise.
About destiny... I was a little disappointed Voyager and its characters were little more than a cameo(excluding seven of nine). Other than that it was great in terms of being a crossover and great in general.
